Silverthorne, You played "Delta Mood" very nicely. You are progressing very fast. How often and for how long do you normally practice? If you don't mind me asking. What country do you live in? From your posting times I'm guessing you are somewhere in Europe. Rich (aka cunningr) and I both live in Spain, but unfortunately not close to each other. Thanks No problem with this question - I'm from Russia. And I practice at least near 1 hr a day, but now I think I usually spend 2~3 hrs average.

I try to do an hour a day also, but sometimes just to busy. Sunday I usally manage 2 or 3 total. I goes to show the key to getting better is a solid practice routine.

For the small number of people who post on this forum we are a very diverse group. I'd like to add that your English is very good. Keep up the practice. You are making great progress.

Very nice job on that Silverthorne, very cleanly played and in very good rhythm with the backing track. Only thing I'd mention is that you're cutting off the last note in each group of 4 really short, might want to try letting it ring out a bit longer - or maybe you tried that and decided you like it your way better But another excellent job once again!

Yeah, that was personal decision to cut off fourth notes. Thanks for nice idea, I think I'll record different version (with ringing and vibratos on 4th) to compare someday

Today was a lazy day, so I've decided to make some test recordings to catch the rhythm of this tune. Somehow the very first take was not bad, but there is some dead notes and rhythm fails especially in the endings - every third note is supposed to be synchronized with drum beat, but not in my case too rushing... And the "biggest bend" is obviously not in correct pitch. I think I need more lazy days Couple will be enough (maybe) But this take definetely deserves an "attempt" title, I want to share it with you guys!

Silverthorne, Nice playing and great tone. You lose the flow in the 8th measure, but the rest is quite good. I have to admit that the 8th and 9th measures gave me quite a bit of trouble.

Phil. Can you please explain, what exactly wrong with 8th measure? Did you mean this one?

Phil. Can you please explain, what exactly wrong with 8th measure? Did you mean this one? So sorry, Silvertone, I meant the 9th measure, which the 2nd measure after the one you posted. Don't count the very 1st measure on the page - that's called the "pick up" measure. (The measure you posted is the 7th measure). In any case, I miscounted. It's the 9th measures that I was referring to. Sorry for the confusion. Also, I want to emphasize that any constructive criticism is meant to help you improve your playing and not to bring you down. Can you tell me the trick to posting the image of the single measure that you posted? That would be very helpful to all of us when we are commenting on someone's recording. Keep up the good work and keep posting. Did you ever mention what camera you are using to record your videos? The quality is very good.

Maybe I've really played the part where "big bend" turns into double-stop too fast. No problem with constructive criticism because I really appreciate it. The page is scanned and I simply cut certain fragment from image with windows 7/8 default snipping tool. What about webcam... It's Logitech C920 with manual settings (only auto-focus is enabled)

Very very nice for a preliminary attempt there Silverthorne! The timing still needs a bit of work to get it to sound more "lazy" and like you said the bends need more practice, but as you work on it more I'm sure you'll get that down. I find it helpful to practice along with John on the CD and try to match the pitch of his bends.

Yesterday I practiced Lazy Day Blues couple of hours. I noticed some good progress (more "laziness" in certain parts). But still not ready for final recording - I keep failing on 10th measure. Pretty tricky part. Especially this little 9/11 slide. Keeping in mind my bad experience with over-rehearsing Minor Blues (#12), I've decided to try something else in parallel. Here is my recording of True Blue, haven't play it since early september. I think that was the first one I heard from BYCU book. I was really impressed! However, I'm not sure that my rendition is 100% correct rhythmically and bends releases (without cutting it off) maybe are unnecessary.

I am working on lazy day blues also, I have it all memorized and can play through but my timing is all over the place. True blue sounded pretty good to me, but that tune never really clicked with me, it always sounds likes its a record being played too slow, but that is the feel of this tune.

Finally I've learned #7 Bending The Blues... I always thought that it is not easy study, but actually it is Backing track also isn't hard to follow. I hope I'll record it ASAP. But... My mahagony friend definetely needs some service (seems like "he" has some problems with electronics), so I'll visit workshop this Saturday. Maybe I'll have to leave the guitar there for couple of days (shielding, re-wiring, etc). And since I've sold/gifted all my cheap guitars - I'll not be able to practice. That's a bummer.

Know the feeling I spent last week changing my pickups, lost the weekend and a couple of days during the week. Worth the trouble though.

Nice job on that Silverthorne! Really like your guitar tone too. About the only thing I'd mention is like you were saying about the bends, just bend up, hold the note for the appropriate amount of time, and then stop it - don't bend back down. Sometimes it will be marked in the tablature that you should bend it back down, but if the arrow just goes up and then stops, you should deaden the note at the top. I thought it was in pretty good rhythm overall, I mean it could be maybe just a little more relaxed and laid back, but darned good job overall
