Hi everyone, I have been working very hard at playing the spread rhythm, so much so I got tennis elbow, I guess I have been pushing it too much. I now have my arm taped with kinesio tape. I want to play but can't use my left hand. I thought I would try to learn some strumming patterns and just play open strings. Does anyone have any other suggestions for playing right handed only. Thanks, I appreciate the suggestions.

Sorry to hear that, srch4gold. I think you could do some strumming and picking exercises. Do you do any fingerpicking? Sounds like it's time to learn some open tunings, so you can at least sound musical... or maybe time to practice some harmonica. Then there's also ear training - ever heard of the program Ear Master? Those are the few ideas that come into my head. Good luck

Srch, I don't have any suggestions other than rest that fretting hand. I do, however, have a comment on the how to avoid this in the future. Work on developing a light touch with your fretting hand. Use only as much pressure as needed to sound a note clearly, and don't hold a particular static position with a lot of pressure for an extended period (playing a spread rhythm for a long time, for example). I guess I didn't really need to tell you this. You've probably already figured this out. It's good that you posted this so others can see that this is serious stuff that can set you back months. As one who has fretting hand problems, I kinow how frustrating this can be. Actually, it's much more than frustrating, it can lead to cronic lifelong problems. Be careful with that fretting hand and never play through pain.
