The lead playing would have probably been a little better if not for all those beers I drank last night, but I think I hit most of the notes, some of them even at the right time Let me know what you think, nitpicking is encouraged

OK, Jack, you asked for nit-pickiness. So, here it comes. In the 1st chorus you play bar 6 a little differently than the original, but that's fine. You've earned the right to take some liberties with these studies, and it sounds good. Now, I just have one question. Did you drink all those beers between the 1st and 2nd choruses? The 2nd chorus is kinda sloppy and doesn't sound as relaxed as the 1st chorus. I know that this study is much more difficult than it sounds. It doesn't sound very fast, but you sure do have to move your hands fast to play it and that builds up tension. At your level of playing we have to be nit-picky about the little nuances and hold your feet to the fire. The bottom line is I think you are capable of doing a better version of the 2nd chorus.

In my treck thru MBYCU to this point (which is having recorded none of it yet), I've played with the rhythm part to Drivin' Blues, and tried to wade my way ploddingly thru the lead part. I can see that this one is going to take some work, so you've got my respect for playing that so well. I could hear the variance that Phil pointed out in the first chorus, but don't think I would have picked that up if he hadn't pointed it out. Once again, I thought the "band" sounded tight together, and thought your video production was great. I think it's cool that you're going back and putting up videos of these, even though you've already recorded them. It'll help those of us who come behind you, if nothing else.

That was great, as usual Jack. You're pumping out videos these days! You videos will definite be of help when I get back to MBYCU - thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated! Phil, yeah that second chorus is kind of at the limit of my abilities lol. You're right on the mark about building up tension - all those double stops and sliding chords make it really hard for me to maintain a nice light touch throughout. Though I've been working on it and making some moderate progress. I didn't notice that thing in bar 6 (guess I should play along with John's version more). Well I'll practice it some more and post a new and hopefully improved version.

Well I'll practice it some more and post a new and hopefully improved version. I only noticed it because I lived with that damned study for a couple of months. But, like I said, the way you played it fits in just fine. I know that I do the same kind of thing, especially when I go for weeks without listening to the original - which happens on almost every study. "Drivin' Blues" is the most deceptive study so far in MBYCU. It simply doesn't sound as hard to play as it really is. I hope everyone here will stick it out and discover that for themselves.

I am with Bruce as a casual listen since I haven't made it to that song yet sounded pretty good.

Thanks Rich! I'll post a backing track for this song too, I'm kind of re-doing the bass for it at the moment.

Sounds good I just finshed an hour an 20 minutes practice with the drum and bass track for chord on bleu, I am still struggling with that last part of the rythm but have it much better hopefully have a recording by the end of the week.

Are you talking about bars 11-12? I remember having a particularly hard time with that. I plan on reviewing all the studies in MBYCU when I finish the book. I'm hoping that I'll find these earlier studies to be a bit easier by that time. At least that's what I'm hoping. Anyway, once you get that rhythm part nailed I don't think you'll much of a problem with the lead for "Chord-On Bleu." It's the next 12 studies that will, at times, make you want to chop your guitar into fire wood. I highly recommend that you read the theory in each lesson and do the exercises. They will come in handy later in the book.

I have the lead down pretty good, si am probably at a point where it's good enough to move on but I am trying to take my time. I might have it recorded this week.
