OK, I've now got Reaper working and have worked out how to do a few basics and record over a BT, so this is what I was working on last week as a break from my picking and speed exercises etc.
I did try to learn this a few months ago but there was no way I could hit the bass flurry's during the guitar solo at the time.

Mick that was cool, nice job. I bet the bass playing is really helping your overall sense of timing and rhythm playing. Do you find it tough to transition between playing/practicing bass and play/practicing lead?

That was awesome Mick, I loved it! Man you're making me want to get out some of my bass books and learn some cool stuff too! I loved your bass sound, it was a great match for Jack Bruce. Glad to hear you got Reaper up and running. Several of us here use it so if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Hey guys, thanks for finding the time to listen to my bass effort, I really enjoyed doing this one, perhaps one day I may be good enough to take on the full fat version........well...maybe not!!! For the interested, I play bass through a Digitech BP355 bass processor, great for working on grooves because it also has a built in metronome and drum machine. Reaper is way better than Ableton with regards to low latency, I am very impressed. I haven't delved into using eq or effects yet but no doubt I will give it a go and be calling for help when I do a from scratch version of Cheap Runs".
