A few people have asked to hear my rhythm guitar work I was doing while on my break, so here ya go: soundcloud.com/wannalearnguitar/blues-rhythm-session-2015-08-26That's four 12-bar choruses, getting progressively faster and using a different rhythm each time. Last one is SRV style at 120bpm - so watch the volume or your speakers may blow Oh, one of those choruses I made up myself based upon the learning I've been doing. Can you guess which one? Thoughts and comments welcome

Pretty good, I think getting these type progressions down solid will open the door to playing in jam sessions.

Cool! I like that SRV style shuffle. That's one that I mess around with often as well, still figuring it out.

Sounds pretty good there, WPB. I'll take a stab at guessing which on you made up - the 2nd one.
All of these would sound good over a bass and drum track rather than in isolation.

Wannaplay, thanks for sharing those. Sounding good from here. I'll second Phil's guess that the second one was the one you made up - mostly because the other three are kind of standards, blues rhythm cliches if you will. Nice job on the SRV type sound - you're ready to take on Pride and Joy from there.

Sounding nice WPB! My favorite was the first one, I've always loved it when guys throw a bunch of "lead" type stuff into a shuffle rhythm. Something I've been meaning to learn how to do forever lol.

I seriously don't have one. I mean, I could probably create a drum backing track (I used a metronome for the recording) but I don't have bass guitar stuff, especially at different tempos.

Bruce Yes, you and Phil are right - it was the second one - at least my other playing sounded "standard", I must be getting something right I love the SRV sound too - which was the driving reason to learn it, and it has taken me *AGES* to get right in terms of muting the strings quickly between the boogie single notes and the piano style up-strokes, not-to-mention trying to build up the tempo too.
