From my crappy little laptop speakers, it sounded pretty good. I don't think the first video did it justice though.
I just re-tubed my Peavey Classic 30 yesterday. It was sorely needed. I'm debating on ordering a Celestion Heritage G12 to put in it now. For the time being, my GAS is quelled in the amp department. I dig what I'm getting from the C30 and will just tinker with that as desired.
Just in contrast, I kinda liked the 1st video. Playing soft jazzy bluesy lines like he was needs a good amp to not sound cheesy and the Vaporizer really shines
Peavey Classic 30 is a great sounding amp. I had one for a short time but I lucked into trading it even for a Classic 50. The C30 that I had looked new and sounded great; I had noticed the Classic 50 in Craigslist for quite a while and the guy just couldn't sell it even at $325. He finally opened it to trade offers and he jumped at my offer.
Yes, the Classic 50 is much more amp than I need and it weighs a ton. It is beat up from 20 years of gigging and wreaked of cigarette smoke when I first got it. But just like Hans Solo said of the Millennium Falcon in Star Wars, its may not look like much but its got it where it needs it. 50 watts into 4-10 speakers and it sounds great with single coil and humbuckers - I will never have to upgrade. It sounds good at band levels and it sounds good a low levels.
I have 15" speaker from a Crate Vintage Club amp, probably made by Eminence and I'm planning to build an extension cab for it. Peavey used to sell a 1-15" cab but its no longer available. Since the cabinet and tolex is so beat up on the amp, I may also build a cabinet for the amp and turn it into a head unit with a 4-10 as well. I've read that when you run a 1-15" along with the 4-10", it a tone nirvana.
