I recorded the last lesson from BYCU: soundcloud.com/joachim-dahl-1/bycu-all-forms-bluesIt has flat and high bends, and bits of staccato picking at fast passages, but I am happy enough with it to consider myself graduated! It's recorded using my new Ibanez SIR70 - it's very different to play than my semi-hollowbody mainly because of the wide thin neck, but after I adjusted to it, I find it really smooth to play. See you on the MBYCU train!

Wow, Joachim! Another graduation from BYCU! It probably seems like an eternity to you, but to me it seems like you ripped right thru this book - of course I was on the 7 or 8 year plan. I think you hit it right on about your recording of "All Forms Blues" - bends are the main shortfall. Those are going to get better the more you keep playing. I've got to really hand it to you, man, you've done a fantastic job to finish not only BYCU but also BRYCU. You've definitely got the skill set now to take on whatever you'd like. I'd love to have join us on MBYCU. Again, GREAT JOB! Bruce

Happy Graduation, Joachim!!! Like Bruce said, you've come a long way in a short amount of time. Watching your progress has been very inspiring. After you post a recording of "Big Bends" from Lesson 6 in MBYCU go back and play "All Forms" again. It will be a piece of cake. The only thing I would point out, since you already know about the bends, is that the pull off part of the bend-release-pull offs that JohnG is so fond of, could use a little more work. There is a good exercise in MBYCU (I think in Lesson 2) that has you doing those all over the fretboard. It's a good, useful technique to nail down. I'm finally getting the hang of it. It takes a while.

Nice job, congrats! With all of these recent graduates, I feel like the freshman watching all the seniors, thinking "wow, maybe that will be me some time in way off future". It's cool to listen to these studies and hear how even though they are the same pieces df music, different tones and playing nuances make them sound so different.

Sounding really good Joachim, and congratulations to our newest graduate! About the only little nitpick I notice is the bends but I'm not going to criticize them because I'm sure they're better than mine were Sweet playing and welcome to More Blues You Can Use and / or Rhythm & Blues You Can Use!

Thanks everyone!
Yes, the bends are actually more off than I thought, but I will move on - I am very excited about starting on a new book...

Thanks everyone! Yes, the bends are actually more off than I thought, but I will move on - I am very excited about starting on a new book... The tough part is staying excited when you get to about chapter 6 of which ever book you choose to work on. We all need to really help each other stay motivated.
