GRADUATION PARTY!!!!
So, after spending 2 solid hours practicing today I gave a recording a go and am ELATED with the result! The quality of the recording is brilliant, tone is perfect and the balance between the backing track and my guitar is awesome. It's my best recording ever (in my opinion) and am glad that it happened on the last recording. Kept the drive high on this one and went for my Joyo Overdrive (Tube Screamer clone) to get the right sound with reverb. It all came together perfectly. Enjoy: soundcloud.com/wannalearnguitar/bycu-all-forms-bluesAs always, your thoughts and comments are welcome, until then...

Brilliant job on that WPB! If I didn't know that was you playing a lesson out of a book I'd just assume it was a pro playing a song Fabulous guitar sound too. Congratulations and happy graduation!

Happy graduation! Great playing and tone. I'm not even going to nit-pick, because you didn't give me anything to nit-pick. Not even Jack was able to find anything to nit-pick. I'm sure you are feeling a great sense of accomplishment right now, and rightfully so. I'm also willing to bet that you've inspired Rich, Joachim, and anybody else getting close to the end to buckle down and see this thing through to completion. If I was handing you your diploma I would say, "Son, you are now about to embark upon a truly difficult but rewarding challenge - More Blues You Can Use. I bid you Godspeed." One piece of advice regarding MBYCU: read and remember the lesson material before starting a study. You will avoid some of the stupid, time consuming mistakes that I have recently made.

Absolutely fantastic, WPB! Congratulations are definitely in order. Man, that was really nicely played, and your recording and tone are just killer. I think you graduated with honors, man! Way to go Bruce

That was absolutely great! One thing I noticed because I am working on the same song is that you play the bends in the 9th measure as regular bends, where they are reversed prebends, but that's a very minor thing and your bends are just great.
Certainly a great inspiration for me. I am still working on speeding up the outro, which is awfully fast - you did it really well.
Congrats!

Thanks for all the positive feedback. I'm totally stoked you all enjoyed it. Brilliant job on that WPB! If I didn't know that was you playing a lesson out of a book I'd just assume it was a pro playing a song Fabulous guitar sound too. Congratulations and happy graduation! Thanks dude! Like I said, best recording yet. Balance was perfect. Happy graduation! Great playing and tone. I'm not even going to nit-pick, because you didn't give me anything to nit-pick. Yeah, I'm actually looking at one of JohnG 's other books, "Rhythm & Blues You Can Use" - it's got a great feel to it (was listening to the CD last night) and it also features "Rhythm" and "Lead" parts to each piece, so may give this a shot first before More Blues You Can Use. Have yet to decide. (http://www.amazon.com/Rhythm-Blues-You-Can-Book/dp/1423496531/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1432644240&sr=8-1&keywords=Rhythm+and+Blues+you+can+use) That was absolutely great! It's a privilege to inspire others - and I'm glad it's done that. Your ears are sharp - I guess somewhere in the process of speeding up the licks to full tempo I (unknowingly) converted the prebends to more bends. Ooops

Either one would be a good choice, and a good challenge.

I am a little late to the party, and really can't add any more compliments than has already been give. I hope I can nail the last tune as well as you did, tone and all was great.

That was awesome! Great way to start my day, glad I listened to that first thing this morning. Congrats! Thanks both for your kind words - they're very much appreciated and a great source of encouragement!Interestingly, somewhere in the hours of practice, repetition and speed building I end up playing the pieces but feeling slightly less enamored by them. It's like I say " Yeah, ok, I can play it ... but only 'cos I sat there for a bazillion hours to get it right - someone else could probably do it in 5 minutes!" I feel more impressed hearing others play the same pieces, than listening back to my own recordings. Perhaps it's just me.
