Well here is a rendition of preaching gospel blues. It's not perfect but I am tired of working on it, I think it's a little choppy at the beginning and also the apreggio at the turn around isn't quite as smooth as I would like it. Anyway here it is recorded with my Carvin using the basic clean amplitude amp sim. I will be trying to clean it up some more, and maybe do it over with my gibson. soundcloud.com/alabama-blues/preaching-gospel-bluesLater, rich

Rich, I think that's one of your strongest recordings yet. The tone has a little bit of "twang" to it - really fits with the piece beautifully. There was a little funky timing going on at the start, but you settled right into the groove. I'm not hearing anything here worth spending more time on - I'd suggest you move right along to the next lesson. I think you've passed the point of diminishing returns to put more time into this one. Nicely done!

Nicely done Rich! A few notes here and there that are out of time, but for the most part it flows along very nicely. Your bends aren't half bad either, good job I agree with Bruce, sounds like you've got this one down pretty well, you don't have to work on it any more

Thanks for the positive feedback, you guys confirmed what I was feeling. For some reason I am almost always a little choppy at the beggining. The apreggio also not real comfortable but seems like I am getting it more times now. I have started reviewing some of the previous tunes and will add it to the line up I think the run jumping into the apreggio will help me develop some better finger control.
The twang is from the Carvin front pick up and lots of treble, I keep that guitar on a stand ready to play so used it to do a couple quick takes. I prefer the gibson sound though.

Really well played, Rich! And great tone from your new guitar... Your focused practice is really paying off - looking forward to the next one!

Thanks Tbone and Joachim. I was actually using my old guitar cause I was waiting on my wife to go out so it was a quick couple of takes and done. I like the tone on the gibson better, anyway gonna move on.

Nice playing, Rich. Yeah, it starts out with a little hesitation in that 1st measure, but overall it sounds good. I know John G. meant this to be a R&B tune, but 8 Bar Blues always sound kinda Country to me and you make it sound real country with that twangy sound. I think you tone goes well with this study.
The only thing I can point out is in the 7th measure. You are rushing the triplet on beat 3. You are not letting the bend (11th fret - 3rd string) fall back down before playing the double stop on the 2nd and 3rd strings (12th and 9th frets).
Anyway, I think you've conquered this one. Come back to it in a few weeks and you will nail it. Now it's on to "Blue Sixths." I think you'll breeze through that one.
