Hi guys ! I know you guys have probably thought, " oh, another new guy has came and went ". Nope, I'm still around ! I haven't posted simply because I haven't been able to practice much; I have had 3 days off the past month and I work a fairly physical job so I have been exhausted. We have also been staying with family after moving across several states so I haven't really had the privacy that I like to practice. Thats all about to change though as we will be moving into our own place next week ! The wife wife works days while I work evenings so I will have all morning to do nothing but practice. I just ordered BRYCU to solidfy my commitment to the course. Oh, more news ! I just received a new Tele that I ordered ! It's a bargain guitar, an SX, but really alot of guitar for the money. Not ever being a Tele player I didn't want to drop much on one but if I take to it I may upgrade to a better model at a later time. I also may be out of touch for a time until we get internet at the new place but remember, I will be practicing !

That's good to hear Phillip! I've been busy as hell lately too and am looking forward to things (hopefully) returning to normal next week lol. One nice thing about it though - it makes you appreciate what practice time you do have a lot more.
I think a Tele can have a great blues sound, hope you like it. I've been wanting one myself.

Hang in there, Phillip! The BRYCU book is a great investment in my opinion. I think if you get thru BYCU and BRYCU, you have the basis to take on pretty much any blues you want (not that it won't take some work to get there, though). I think BRYCU really will step up your ability to "feel" the rhythm in a 12 bar blues (which will also improve the timing in your lead playing). The semi-hollow body you see in some of my videos is an inexpensive SX model - I've also admired their tele's. I've heard the quality is pretty much equivalent to or maybe better than a Squire. I bet you'll enjoy that guitar just fine.

Thanks for the encouragement guys ! Have you did any mods to your SX Bruce ? Mine is very playable right out of the box; Frets are level ( although a few sharp ends which I will file ), nut is cut perfectly, and the stock pickups sounds pretty decent.

Happy to hear that we didn't lose another new guy. We are constantly losing members. There has never been more than 6 - 8 active members at any one time. I see that there are a lot of lurkers, but they don't come in.
Anyway, congrats on the new guitar and keep practicing when you can. We are looking forward hearing a recording of one of the studies from you.

No, I didn't do any kind of modifications to mine, other than to string it up with heavier strings and reset the intonation. I paid $199 for the guitar, so I don't think it's worth sinking much money into it. One of the reasons I got it was so I could try to learn about doing set up on my own (without rendering my strat unplayable). I've enjoyed the guitar, and feel it was definitely money well spent. It's funny, now I play that guitar more than I play my strat. Can you post any photo's of your tele? I wouldn't hesitate to buy another SX, or to recommend them to others. They're not "high end" guitars, but good value for the $, IMO. Bruce

Glad to hear that you were happy with it stock Bruce. I will try to get some photos taken in the a.m. of the Tele; I have to leave for work soon. It really is a nice looking guitar for the money and I've been pleasantly surprised with the overall quality/price ratio.
