I got in 6 days of practice for a total of 7 1/2 hrs. this week. I'm working on "Big Bends" (lesson 6 MBYCU) and have the notes of the 1st 12 Bars down. I plan to get this down well before moving to the next 12 bars. I changed my high E string from a 10 to a 9. That made the 1.5 step bend in this study a little easier. I'm able to get the bend, but now the problem is muting all the unwanted string noises that occur when you bend a string that far. I'm also working on the tremolo sections of "True Trem Blues" (Lesson 7 MBYCU). I've been doing the tremolo exercises in Lesson 6 for several weeks now as part of my warm-up, so I'm getting the hang of the technique. The big thing I did this week was to finish writing my 2 solos set to the rhythm of "Jumpin Blues." I still need to practice them to be able to pthem smoothly into the song. This is the 1st time in a year that I've taken time away from regimented practice to do something on my own. I plan on allowing more time for this kind of thing from now on. I think I'm finally over my obsession to finish MBYCU as soon as possible. I'll get through it in good time, but slow and steady wins the race. It's time to start focusing on the USE in "Blues You Can Use."

I am working on a "Stormy Monday" lesson in BRYCU, as weel as "Preaching Gospel Blues" in BYCU. Both are coming along, but it will take more work before I record them.
I started on Blues Licks You Can Use. That book is really a gem - something I've been waiting for. It's going to take a lot of dedication, though, to be able to juggle all the different licks around on the fly, but I am determined to learn it, and feel I am ready for it. Working on those licks will also replace my dedicated technique exercises, I think.

I was so busy with other non-guitar stuff last week it was just ridiculous. Only got in about 4 3/4 hours of practice. Worked a bit on Groovin' Funk in the R&B book (lead, rhythm and bass), a bit on Termblin' Tremolo in More BYCU, and got started on D Minor Blues in the Rhythm book. This coming week doesn't look like it's going to be much better, but oh well, I'll get in a little practice when I can Hopefully by next weekend things will be back to normal.

Tbone, I haven't had time to watch it yet, but I think that guy in the music production Coursera class was going to talk about latency in this week's lecture. Maybe there's some info in there that could be helpful.

Maybe I'll have a chance in the near future. How's the course going so far? Is it worth the time?

I've only done the first class so far - was supposed to start the second one last Monday but no time lol. He started by explaining some terms, then he talked about how sound waves travel through the air and showed various ways in which sound is graphically represented. Then he talked about the various types of cables commonly found in a studio, the different types of mic's (dynamic and condenser) and the best uses for each. And some other stuff I can't remember So it was just an introduction with no hands-on stuff in that lesson, but I think he'll get into a lot of that in future lessons.

Jack, Phil, thanks a lot - a course like this will be great to enlist to as soon as time allows me to... for now YT will have to do, and there are some real good clips out there, e.g.: But as I caught myself hijacking another track with non-topic issues I'll stop here and encourage everyone else to show this week's homework already! Greetings, t. I think there is a thread regarding recording. You might want to get that started up again.

Hi everyone. Well I got about 6 hours in this week despite family drama on Thursday which totally messed up my practice.
I am working on hard edge blues I just completely memorizing and playing completely through at slow speed except for the ending because I have it set to loop back at the turn around. Tried fast speed a couple of times decided that will require using cocain or a boost of adrenalin to play that at speed.
I also watched the mail for my new guitar, hopefully get here this week.
Due to the reason of the drama I had to order a new set of headphones, since mine grew legs a walked off by there self. Anyway ordered a solid mid range closed beyertechnologies set. I also ordered me a harmonica and beginning harmonica book to play around with.
Hopefully I can record hard edge blues slow version by next weekend and start working on speeding it up.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that I also learned a lick from Blues Licks You Can Use, seems like myself and Joachim are in the same mind set.
