I've looked at those before, and found them well-done and helpful. These are bundled for sale on a disc on Amazon.com. I've got his blues rhythm guitar book and had started wading my way thru it a couple of years ago when I'd finished BRYCU. It's a very well done, comprehensive book. I never made it all the way thru it - ended up on one of my many guitar hiatuses...

No offense taken and yes I could not disagree more John's books are maybe the best but I don't listen to only one blues guitarist why learn from one teacher.
I did not link to something the guy sells just a free video on you tube. I have posted links in other forums to BYCU as the best course.
There are different learning styles and what may click with one said one way may not click at all with another.
Plus as a dye in the wool capitalist I know for an indisputable fact that competition is good for business.
Having said all that if John prefers that we not post "competitors" I'll not post this kind of thing again, but it will have to come from John or a moderator.

We have had this discussion before and I am with nursedad on this one, John needs to let us know and we will obey his wishes. That said the topic says all thing blues and we have to have topics to look at and discuss to help keep the forum alive. I am always raving about johns books and how the forum has helped but sometimes an outside perspective may help clarify something we are working on. anyway we need this to be clarified by John my take on the forum is a place to talk about BYCU as well as blues music in general. Ok my rant is over also, movement on who is going to have new recordings to post.

I believe that John G has been invited several times now to comment or instruct us on what may be an inappropriate post, as far as I am aware there has not been any response so I assume we have not yet overstepped the mark regarding the posting of material other than Johns own instruction books. I for one would hate to think I am treading on John's toes, but I am also "guilty" of posting other lessons such as the acoustic fingerpicking book a couple of us have been working from also, it would still be good if John would say yes or no .

No "mea culpas" are necessary, T-Bone. Your comments were far from being inappropriate. I felt the same way about mentioning other guitar teachers here. After seeing that the forum didn't implode when someone did, I provided links to things I thought were interesting even if they were links to another guitar teacher. The fact of the matter is that John Ganapes has a unique product which can stand up to just about anything else that's available today. Nobody (and I'm constantly surfing the web for learning materials) even approaches what John is offering as far as variety of Blues styles and a progressive presentation of the material. The only thing John lacks is more exposure, and possibly getting into the video side of teaching which is something many people apparently are demanding today. EDIT: I was supposed to have quoted T-Bone, not Mick.

Thanks, Phil... but does this mean I didn't make it?: I'm not sure where to find my old avatar... It means I quoted Mick when I meant to quote you. After all, you are very quotable. BTW, I like your current avatar.

Tony, Tony, Tony - You're far from being persona non grata around here! I value your input as highly as anyone on this forum. We all have our occasional rants. No mea culpas required. Now get down off your high horse and play some guitar for us! Bruce
