I'm confused about the guitar sound now though - Phil says it's perfect and Bruce says it's thin I did go with a more bright sound for that one to get the lead to kind of stand out more, but maybe it's a bit too bright. It could be that I have more fat between my ears than Bruce does, and that's probably why he hears it as sounding thinner. Well, I don't know, Phil, I've been accused of being pretty thick-headed... Now you guys seemed to ignore my statement that this (tone) is an area of personal preference. Jack, I like the second one better, too. Maybe it's just the "full band" video thing. You need to work on the uniforms to catch up to Mick, though. Maybe get you a dark suite, a thin black tie, and a fedora... oh, and a dog trained to play dead. You've got your work cut out for you. I also think that version was better, Jack. Notes sounded more punctuated for a funky feel, where they were played more as straight notes in your first rendition.
And I also agree with Bruce that we need more dogs in our recordings (or farm animals given your geographical location)!

Thanks Rich! And Phil, you're right, it's a moral imperative now Yes, it's most definitely a moral imperative. I'm currently focusing on bringing "Cheap Runs" up to speed and smoothing it out. I like to think that I can be focused and persistent when I want to be. However, my wife just calls me hard-headed and obsessive.

Thanks guys, glad you liked that one better! I'll still keep working on this one now that I've noticed I was starting all the phrases late. I've also decided the bass isn't quite in time at the beginning. Bruce, if you haven't noticed, I'm already wearing a fedora in all my videos I don't know about a dog though, my cat's the king of the roost around here. Oh and he definitely wouldn't put up with any cows in the house Joachim

Well this one's got a few mistakes and the descending runs kind of suck, but at least I think it's a bit more energetic. I think I'm all practiced out on this one now and it's time to move on to the next song.

Jack, not being really familiar with the tune, any mistakes are really hard to pick out. I think it sounds pretty damn good - nice tone, good timing, very soulful. I think you're reaching the diminishing returns point to work this one any more - time to move onward. Oh, and the fedora looks really sharp, too!

I think that was great - like Bruce I couldn't find anything to nitpick. Well done!

Funky soul looks as difficult as anything in MBYCU, you got some real grit Jack , I would have been very happy to have been able to play as good as your first take on this. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Mick, this was a pretty hard one - looks like the lead for the next one is just a chordal accompaniment so I shouldn't be able to screw that up too bad...or should I?

Sounds good, Jack. Those runs at about 0:45 and 1:30 are pretty impressive. There's some serious movement around the fingerboard on those.

Plus one nice job on what appears to be a tough tune.

Man, I like that tune. I'm a long way away from that one right now though. Nice job on it.
