Hey Phil weren't you going to start a topic like this? Anyhow what are everybody's resolutions for 2015? Mine's just to keep playing for the entire year. For the last 25 years I've been practicing for a few months, taking a five year break, etc. If I could actually keep at it this time, that would be awesome. I think my practice routine is okay; sometimes I get sidetracked a bit but that's okay, working on a variety of other stuff keeps it fun. And I eventually realize I'm spreading myself too thin and go back to working on a few main things. And then the process of adding a little of this and a little of that begins all over again I also resolve to buy a nice acoustic guitar, and my Strat is in bad need of re-fretting, maybe I'll get some stainless steel ones (they're supposed to last 4-5 times longer than the regular nickel steel ones). So let's hear your resolutions!

Just got the Blues You Can Use book and CD. My resolution is to practice at least 15 minutes a day. But right now I'm laid off work for awhile so I can practice more each day.

Welcome to the forum hogleg.
Well my resolution was to never make another resolution. But I can always make a New Years pact I guess, and same as Jack continue to play and practice regular for another complete year, because I beleve I am nearing my first year of actually seriously learning to play.
If all goes well would like to buy a gibson es335 or a les Paul.

OK, I'm going to resolve to get back to my Jazzin' The Blues lessons and videos...no, really, I am...I've gotta get out of this non-guitar-playing funk I've been in

Hey, I've been deified! I think that last post did it - 500 posts! Woo hoo! Bruce Welcome to Mount Olympia, Bruce. My resolutions are: 1). write a practice schedule that is realistic and then stick to it. 2). don't buy anymore books/courses for the entire year. 3). finish MBYCU by July 1st. 4). learn at least some of the stuff from the books/courses I already have. (I have enough to keep me busy for the rest of my life.) 5). do more ear training (i.e. learn stuff on my own from CD's). 6). start getting into some Jazz after completing MBYCU. I'm feeling drawn more and more towards playing some Jazz. Well, that's my plan. I wonder how many of those resolutions I can keep.

First of all welcome to Hogleg, hope you join in the fun here.
The biggest killer of available practice time for me is watching too many youtube vids of guitar gear and people playing such gear.
I will try not to spread myself too thin by working from every music tutorial book I own at the same time.

I plan to resist the G.A.S., finish BRYCU/BYCU and get started on Rhythm & Blues You Can Use. I've done a great job of that for the last couple years. Then got G.A.S for a tube am and now looking for a Strat. Baby Jesus help me. My new years resolutions drop about 30 LB's. Get back to the BYCU and do some recordings. Get a promotion at work. win the lottery and retire. Wish me Luck

Marc, let's hear some recordings! We need new blood around here... Actually, Marc has been around for quite a while. He's just been keeping a low profile. Anyway, it's good to have you back posting, Marc. I agree with Joachim - post some recordings. We're getting tired of hearing each other.

I have been recently inspired by some of the progress logs some of the members are doing. I hope to have some time this weekend. I've recovering form a long guitar Hiatus but have been playing until my finger tips ache. Y'all's support if freaking awesome. I wish the family would wake up so I can jam.

Seems mine are similar to Phil's... 1). write a practice schedule that is realistic and then stick to it. 2). don't buy anymore books/courses for the entire year. 4). learn at least some of the stuff from the books/courses I already have. (I have enough to keep me busy for the rest of my life.) 5). do more ear training (i.e. learn stuff on my own from CD's). Will be great next year to see how well I kept them
