I'll get the ball rolling this week. I didn't get in a lot of practice this week - 4 days for a total of 6 hrs. But that's still more than my minimum goal of 4 hrs. per week. So, I'm happy. BTW - this is actual practice time and doesn't include breaks, finding a page in the book, listening, etc. I time each segment of practice using this: e.ggtimer.com/. I'm not OCD. (really, I'm not ) I just want to be sure I don't spend an excessive amount of time on 1 thing at the expense of other things, and I want to see how much time I spend actually playing. I've got "Cheap Runs" up to 95% of full tempo. I was stuck at 90% for a while. I hope to have it up to speed soon. When I finally get it recorded I'll tell you the method I'm using to increase speed. "Blues a la Chord" is coming along well. I can play it thru to the end with several bumps along the way. I hope to have it down before the end of the month. I spent 1/2 hr. on a Jimmy Rogers lesson from "Old School Blues" which is a youtube channel. Dave Moore has a lot of good videos showing the techniques of the "old school" guys from the '30s to the '70s. The most important thing for me this week is I started learning Freddie King's "Hide Away" yesterday. It's part of my plan to start building a repetoire. It's a Blues standard that everybody should eventually know. Compared to MBYCU this is going to be a breeze. It's pretty simple, but that doesn't mean it's easy to play well. Some of you will know what I mean by that.

Looks like I got 13 hours on guitar and 11 on bass this week. Talk about OCD, I spent $20 on a digital timer so I can stop it when I take a break and start it again when I get back to it The neat thing about timing stuff is I can look at how last week I got 3 hours on Tuesday, and this week I got 3 1/4 hours, and stuff like that. Worked quite a bit on True Trem Blues in More BYCU. Still slaving away at that pedal tone part. Practice it in isolation, practice the whole song, practice it in isolation, etc. I guess I'm getting a little better at it. Sometimes I can hit every note at full tempo, sometimes I can miss two-thirds of them at 20 bpm below full tempo. The double bends at the end are getting better, thought they're still hit-or-miss. Worked a bit on that rock ballad solo in my Soloing Strategies book, did some blues fingerpicking, and did a fair bit of improvising over backing tracks. This week I think I'll try to "write" an extremely basic blues song, maybe a shuffle rhythm, simple bass part, and try to come up with a bluesy sounding solo for it. At least that's my intention On bass I spent quite a bit of time working on Hide Away by Freddie King. Here's me playing it along with my drum machine: soundcloud.com/jack-c8/hide-away-backing-track It's got some screw ups and could be tighter and more precise, but I'll keep working on it. Overall not too terrible for a guy who's only been playing bass for a few months I guess. Also worked quite a bit on week 11 in Bass Aerobics and practiced through my Blues Bass book. This week I'm GASing for a Fender Rumble 100 watt bass amp with a 12" speaker

This week I'm GASing for a Fender Rumble 100 watt bass amp with a 12" speaker I'm sure your neighbors will be impressed. The backing track you did for "Hide Away" sounds pretty darn good. I'll definitely be using it when I record it.

Peavey's actually got a 300 watt bass amp with a 15" speaker for the same price, but I thought that might be slightly too much for my 10' X 12' room Thanks for the kind words Phil, I forgot to mention that Hide Away backing track's available for download if anybody here wants to use it, be my guest

I've made it to some fun parts of both BYCU and BRYCU. Also been working more regularly on improvising over the first and second position using simple T-Bone Walker licks over BiAB tracks - I am not playing like Duke Robillard yet, but it's starting to sound like blues improvisation. Also working on increasing speed, for example 16th note versions of licks and walk-downs from 2nd to 1st position.
Still enjoying Rhythm 365 as well - spend the last 4 days on some jazz chord progression and finger style progressions that were completely new to me. It takes some days to get my mind around those playing styles.
All in all, I'm having lots of fun right now, which is the most important part...

Nice drum and bass track Jack, don't you think that section near the end sounds like Peter Gunn? Well, I'm still putting time into Blues Rhythms lesson 10, still a way to go to sign off but I feel the sliding chords technique being taught is a crucial one to master before moving on, perhaps another week yet. In addition I've been working on alternate picking exercises and rocking out to easy-ish versions of "Highway to Hell" and "You Give Love a Bad Name". I just love the crunch tone I get out of my new humbucking Tele.

Well, I got about 4 hours in this week. Recorded 9th chord blues but have not posted yet, pretty good but think the runs could be a little cleaner so letting it cool down a bit before I post.
Practiceed the all ate turnarounds but having trouble memorizing.
Also learned a new blues lick from a news letter I get.
Practiced Layla some more.

Nice drum and bass track Jack, don't you think that section near the end sounds like Peter Gunn? That's definitely the Peter Gunn theme, which was a popular TV show at the time (1961). I think he worked in some other popular songs also, but I can't identify them.

Well guys, I've been working too much and not playing my guitar enough again. I'll try to correct this situation in the future. Jack, I talk to people who graduated from high school 10 years after I did, and they're not just adult, they're old people...

8hrs this week. Working hard on "I'm Tore Down" by Eric Clapton. I'm into the solo, and have hit the ridiculously fast 1 bar of notes - so am slowing it down to a snail pace just so I can hear it and practice it. The rest of the song to that point I can play at 85% of full-tempo. Once I have it all down it's a case of picking up the speed gradually. Then I'll record it all and bore you guys with it
