I've been working on that lesson for awhile without getting the smooth feel from the CD, so I'll put in on the backburner for awhile. soundcloud.com/joachim-dahl-1/brycu-lesson-11I am definitely not a friend of those sixes and nines slide-ins - especially for fast chord changes like this lesson. It just takes a lot more guitar hours under the belt to get the same fealing as the CD, I suppose... Playing it at slower speed helps getting it smoother and more laid-back, but I recorded it at full tempo. Oh well, onwards to the next lesson.

What did you do wrong on this Joachim? Because it sounds perfect to me Timing is excellent, everything's very cleanly played; other than the difference in guitar sound I can't tell it from John's version.

+1 for Jack's response, I played yours back to back with John's and well....I guess you think its not so smooth, well its very close in my opinion, your chord transitions sound smooth to me, its more that your tone needs softening a little maybe. Where are you strumming the strings? You will get a softer tone strumming at the base of the neck rather than nearer the bridge, just a thought. and maybe something to experiment with, you will certainly here the difference.

Joachim, I'm not sure what you're hearing. Timing sounds pretty solid to me. Those sixes and nines are a pretty common blues sound, though, so no harm in working them some more...

thanks for listenings. To give an example, one thing I am struggling with is the fast change from Eb9 to the Ab9-Ab6 slide in the first measure; it's really hard to get the slide-in ringing out clearly for me, but on the CD the effect is very distinct. I know we are all our own hardest critics, but it's really clear to me. So as Bruce wrote, that's something to keep working on...
