John, do mind sharing what the great sounding amps/effects you are using in the BYCU examples? I've been playing classic rock for years and just can't squeeze that sweet blues tone out of my JCM800. Now that I am moving more toward blues, I want to make wise investment on an amp. My main guitars are a Les Paul Standard, Lone Star Strat & '63 RI ES-335. Any guidance on this would GREATLY appreciated! Thanks, John

I did not play on the recording for BYCU (the first book). (I am on the other 6 CDs.) That said, I know the guitar player used a Strat, and I think he played through a Matchless amplifier, though I don't know the model.
Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Hi John!
Can you give us some information on the sound setup on More Blues You Can Use? I also think that the guitar on MBYCU sound great. Which guitar did you use? Which effects?
Thank you!

Hi Alexd,
Thank you for your kind words. The setup I used for More Blues You Can Use was very simple. I played a Japanese Strat through a Fender Blues Deville amp (with 4 ten inch speakers). I still have the strat (great guitar), and wouldn't mind having the DeVille back (I sold it to buy a Vibrolux reverb.)
I always play 11's on the strat. Back then I was using GHS Boomers.
I hope you find that useful.
