...somebody posted something on this forum, so here's the 7th song from R&B You Can Use. The audio and video are slightly out of sync, sorry...I uploaded the stupid thing 3 times and it seems to keep changing it after I've fixed it or something. Anyhow let me know what you think

Another fine performance Jack, the vibrato at the top of the bends is very difficult to get to sound good, yours just sang...

Thanks Mick! I'm getting an awful lot of practice putting vibrato on bends from Big Bends in MBYCU - like every other note LOL

Jack, Thanks for breaking the eerie silence around here. It appears that our numbers are dwindling. We need need to get some of these lurkers to start posting. There has to be more than 6 of us interested in John G's courses. BTW, that's some nice playing. Your bends are spot on. Bet you never expected to here that from me.

My bends are correct? I just fell out of my chair! Yeah where are the rest of these guys? I find posting songs here is a tremendous motivator to practice - more people should take advantage of it!

I find posting songs here is a tremendous motivator to practice - more people should take advantage of it! Keep posting your recordings even if this forum goes down to just 3 of us. It's working towards the goal of learning a tune well enough to record and post it for the world (or at least 6 inhabitants of the world) to hear that's important. There were 89 visitors to this forum in the last 24 hours. I wish there was a way to draw some of them in. I think part of the problem is that John G doesn't have sufficient Internet presence (he may have other things going on and this may not be a priority for him). I think it's unfortunate that his courses are not better known, because the content is certainly superior to most of the stuff I've encountered and even spent money on.

Oh I'll definitely keep posting here - I just bought some new video editing software and ordered a better camera Wish we could encourage these other folks to participate - it's not only a great incentive to practice, but it's nice having people to talk to about whatever you're working on in the books and also really cool to have recordings of yourself so you can just tell your friends to check out your Soundcloud or Youtube page to hear your stuff.

Jack,
That was really cool - great tone, and have to agree with Phil about the bends - very nicely played. Well, I've definitely been on a real slump as far as playing and posting. Just been busy with lots of stuff going on in my life. I haven't given up, though! So what is your new video software and camera?

Thanks Bruce! Makes my day to hear that the bends were good - I was wondering if I'd ever live to see that day! Hopefully I can do a halfway decent job on Big Bends in MBYCU lol. I got the Sony Vegas Movie Studio software; just started playing with it a couple of days ago so I'm still just clicking on random buttons to find out what they do. The camera I ordered is one of these: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004WO8HQ4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The only time I seem to get good video quality with my current camera is when sunlight is streaming into the room. Hopefully the new one will be a little better. Hey sometimes a little break from guitar playing can be a good thing - you come back to it all full of enthusiasm Hope you get some time to play in the future, really love your stuff!

This comment says to me that the problem isn't your camera, it's your lighting... Hate to sound like a broken record, but it sounds to me like you need more lighting. Google "video lighting" and "3-point lighting", you can find some good articles talking about video lighting. Also helps to have a camera where you have some control over the exposure (I do this using the exposure control on my iPhone). Bruce

Thanks Bruce, yeah I probably need to buy a couple more of those fluorescent light bulbs and find some more lamps to put them in. But a new camera is just so much more fun ya know? Nah just kidding, my lighting setup will be the next thing to get upgraded I guess. Hope the neighbors don't see all the bright lights through the window and think I've got a pot farm going or something lol.

Don't count me out either; I am just busy consolidating stuff and unlearning bad habits I picked up along the way. Eventually I will be back with some half-baked beginner's blues...

Yeh was pretty quite around here, I have been working through funky blues just learned the whole song on slow this week, so nothing to record. Seems I am at a point where the the songs are taking more work. Plus Phil beat me up so bad on my timing I got gun shy, just kidding that's the whole point of posting to get that critical listen. Most of the people who have listened to my last recording couldn't pick out the timing variance.
Plus still waiting on my new pups to arrive seems like our mail is getting stuck somewhere again. Hopefully have something to post this week.

That was very nice, Jack. You might want to tighten up the double-stops a little bit - from the 3rd line on, but really, very nice and good tone.

Thanks so much John! Yeah listening back to it those double stops do get a little "loose" sounding. I think it's the rhythm guitar? I should have done a few more takes of that
