With a successful recording of BYCU Major Blues following my baby being back in my arms, it's onwards with Hard Edge Blues. I love the sound of this one - so hope I can get get smooth runs right!

With unsuccessful recording of Bends Slides and Shifts continuing to work on timing issue.
Practiced spread rhythms this week as well.
Practiced rhythm for Help the Poor, actually sounds pretty good.
Went back and reviewed some of the previous tunes as well.
Practicing all 5 patterns.

I got in 5 practice sessions this week between 45 and 60 mins each, except for yesterday when I got about 1 1/2hrs. That's real practice time and not counting noodling around.
My primary focus has been on the 1st 12 bars of "Drivin' Blues" in MBYCU. It's not too difficult to play slowly, but playing full tempo is another story. Today I'll start on the 2nd 12 bars.
I'm taking this, and future studies, slow and not spending more than 30-40 mins. on them during any one practice session. This is a different approach for me. From experience I think I reach a point of diminishing returns when I spend too much time trying to learn something at one sitting.
I've also been spending more time on the lesson material in MBYCU.
I also reviewed a couple of things from BYCU and will be re-recording some of my earlier attempts.

Got Jumpin' Blues recorded; got a little ahead of the beat momentarily during the fast repeating lick thing and overall the phrasing could have been sharper and cleaner. I was going to do a whole bunch more takes but I have this terrible habit of saying "Oh that one was okay let's get started on mixing it down." The main thing More BYCU is teaching me is patience - you have to practice these songs until you feel like you're gonna go nuts if you play through it another 50 times - and then you know you're halfway there Got started on the next song, Big Bends. A slow, minor blues with tons of bends of course. I have a feeling this is one of those where I'll think I'm playing it pretty well, until I record myself for the first time and realize I've got another month's worth of work ahead of me Been practicing the rhythm part for a couple of days and just realized I'm playing half the chords at the wrong time...what a doofus. Got the first half of the bass line figured out but I'm kind of stuck at the moment. And I'm still working on Sixties Dance Music in the R&B book. I've been practicing it at full tempo but it still needs a lot of smoothing out, especially the rhythm part - lots of upbeat chord strums mixed in with lots of downbeat strums and the whole thing's pretty darned fast. I've got the lead going pretty well except for one fast puloff lick. That's about all I worked on this week; kind of thinking I'd like a third project, maybe go back to the Jazz book or maybe learn a cover song, or hey I could always work on the other material in the books besides the songs - now there's an idea!

Not nearly enough practice time this week. Most of it spent playing songs out of the "Guitar Solos for Acoustic Guitar" book. I found out that I can record my acoustic by plugging it in to the UX2, so I may have to make a recording of some of these. I don't have a decent mic for recording acoustic, so I'm getting some GAS pains again. I've got to where I can play the rhythm part of "Mary Had A Little Lamb" passably. I can play slowly thru the first four choruses of "Hide Away". It seems I haven't been working on any of the BYCU books : (

My word, it's another week gone already!!! I am feeling rather pleased with myself that I have started to get to grips with the ninth chord progression in A. I think a little bit of a rest from that has been earned so I think I will start work on the first R&B lesson and work on my one man band skills , I have already had a go at programming the drums . ...just checked the chords out...major barre chords and triads...looking forward to starting this already!!!

I am not learning new lessons for the moment - I am redoing both of BYCU & BRCYCU in parallel paying more attention to the concepts this time around. It's a great fealing to able to pick up the early BUCY lessons easily - I remember how I struggled with those.
I also spend quite a bit time improvising over slow blues tunes in BIAB, shifting pentatonic scales, etc. - that's really difficult for me, so I figured I should become more comfortable with that before moving on in BUCY.
