Lesson 5 from More Blues You Can Use. I don't know why my video turned blue...must be really bluesy I guess.

Whew that was good, I think the camera might be picking mixed light sources, the desk color isn't blue.

Thanks T-bone, yeah there's some intricate phrasing in there and that jump style blues is a little different than the usual stuff. I think I better wrap my fingers around a few cold beers tomorrow night to help work the knots out of them

Jack, that was VERY cool! Nice to see you join the video side, too. Keep up the good work, man. I'm with Mick - no way I can play that right now. Practice, practice, practice...
Tbone, what's up with your hand? That's not some kind of gang sign, is it?

Thanks so much guys, I really appreciate it! That one took a lot of work (well they all do in More BYCU) and it's awesome to get positive feedback - very motivating I think I need to get one of those fancy light bulbs you were talking about Bruce, maybe it will help with getting the colors in the video correct. That guitar is actually black not olive green lol.

Jack, Nothing fancy about the lights - you just need daylight type (5500-6500K), not soft white (usually about 2700K). Probably a single bulb like this would do wonders for your video quality: www.amazon.com/GE-Lighting-89095-replacement-1600-Lumen/dp/B002YEXMUK/ref=sr_1_5?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1410527697&sr=1-5Put it in something like this clamp on work light, and you can clamp them just about anywhere: www.amazon.com/Woods-0151-8-5-Inch-Reflector-150-Watt/dp/B000HHQ94C/ref=sr_1_1?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1410527978&sr=1-1&keywords=clamp+on+work+lampIf you get two of them and put one to each side, you'll get less shadows. If you really get the video bug, google "three point lighting" or just "video lighting". Anyway, your video "graininess" and color reproduction will be amazingly improved with better lighting, and you do not need to drop a lot of money to do this. You can, of course, get this same stuff at Home Depot or Lowe's, if you've got one nearby. Now if you want to rival Mick's videos you're gonna have to work on dog training... Bruce

Thanks for the info Bruce, I'll definitely have to get one of those lights to start with, maybe add a second later. I did have a co-star in an earlier take of my video yesterday

Jack, Your recent videos have not failed to impress me. This one was terrific. That's a tough study and you pulled it off quite well. Your hard work is paying off. Or is it that you just have more natural talent than the rest of us? Yeah, that's the ticket. We can't play at your level because you have more natural talent than we do. And, I'll bet, that the more you practice the more your natural talent increases. Keep posting those videos, Jack. They are inspiring and motivating. If you'll excuse me, I have to work some more on "Drivin' Blues". Phil

Thanks so much Phil, glad you liked it! So you think I've got natural talent eh? Um Phil...have you been drinking? LOL I did the bass and rhythm guitar and Mr. Zoom RT123 did the drums. If you'd like the bass/drums I can sure put it up on SoundCloud.

Bruce ......now this is dog training Mick, This video supports a theory I've had for a number of years (and is often supported by Youtube videos), that there's a lot of people in this world with way too much time on their hands... If that's what More Blues You Can Use expects... I'm officially scared!

Thanks for the offer on the backing track. I'm always interested in any backing tracks you put together for MBYCU.

If that's what More Blues You Can Use expects... I'm officially scared! The only way to overcome your fears is to face them directly. When you're done with BYCU you will be ready. I'm only half way through the 2nd lesson. So far the studies are challenging, but not beyond my reach, at least not yet. And I think it's going to be just like BYCU was - you skill improves with each study and prepares you for the next one. In fact MBYCU is set up even better than BYCU in that the exercises in the lesson materiel prepare you for the lesson. And it has some very good, interesting and useful exercises.
