I'm easing into the 2nd 12 bars of "Drivin' Blues" and need some help. I'm having trouble understanding exactly how the slides with the notes in () are picked and played. Specifically, bars 13, 14, and 17-20.
Any suggestions?

I think when they're in parenthesis it just means they're sustained from when you played them previously. So for instance in bar 13 ( first bar on page 23) you play the fifth fret B string and 4th fret G string together as a double stop, then you hit the 5th fret D string (so now you've got a three note chord) and then slide the whole chord down two frets.
In bar 18 I think the parenthesis is on the wrong note - should be on the 5th fret G string not the 5th fret high E - like it is in bar 19.

Thanks, Jack. I just edited my original post and corrected the measures in question, although you knew which ones I was talking about. I think you're right about bar 18, that's the one that really threw me off and made me question how to play the others. After your explanation it's obvious that the()in bar 18 is in the wrong place.
I think I got it now.
