You really got the groove on that one. Very smooth. One might even say fluid. I'd like it better with less distortion, but that's simply a personal preference not a criticism. I just tend to like a little cleaner rhythm guitar.

Very nice WPB, I thought the guitar sound fit in nicely. Only very minor observation would be that you're kind of playing right on the beat, but it's one of those really laid back songs where the rhythm guitar doesn't so much drive the beat forward as let the groove drag it along with it.

wannaplay,
Very interesting tone - usually in blues the rhythm guitar is pretty clean, which seems to give more definition to the rhythmic aspects of the playing (versus heavier rock, where you might hear a fifth chord, heavily distorted, held for four beats of a measure). The more I listened to that, though, the more it grew on me. The playing is nicely done. I think like Jack said, you were a little ahead of the beat - especially at the start, but then got more into the groove. I enjoy hearing these rhythm lessons. Keep 'em coming!

Thanks all! bluesbruce like I said, I wanted the tone to contrast the harmonica. I recorded it, wasn't too sure about it, but after hearing it a few times I thought it *did* work in some weird way. Glad it grew on you jack1982 and bluesbruce - yeah, I need to work on being behind the beat, not sure how this works in reality, though, especially as all books tell you to get a metronome and hit notes on the beat which is what I have always strived to do in the past. Any suggestions?

Any suggestions? This concept of playing before or behind the beat is way beyond my capabilities right now. At this point I'm happy if I can play in the general vicinity of the beat.

I think it's just a feel thing really - play along with the CD and be very relaxed, don't be in a hurry to hit the next chord, just let the beat drag you along with it.
