Rosewood fret boards: Meths(Methylated spirits)- its Alcohol:Use this on a cloth to clean the board of gunk. (Meths evaporates & leaves no film behind))it removes grease. Now use Lindseed oil on a cloth.Don't use too much.Wipe Excess away.Allow to dry(24hrs) 2 thin coats will suffice.Linseed oil IS wood resin-Feeds dry wood. The smell dissipates. Now use a cloth & a small dab of Beeswax. Rub over the wood etc Wipe off any excess & allow to dry then shine.(Don't use too much wax here!)The Board will be slippy/smooth.ideal for bending etc. Use jewelers (red) rouge & a Dremel/polishing wheel)...Mirror finish frets.Don't over polish the frets, the heat (Friction)..from the wheel can lift/loosen frets. So a quick polish is all that is required.Laquered fret boards: Don't!..unless all laq removed.Use paper taped over pick ups (Magnets attract metal !)-wire wool (0000 gauge) Cleans(sands) the wood surface.Just follow the wood grain etc.Vacuum up debris, before removing paper shield. One can.. clean the board (meths) then to finish, Lemon oil it.
