And what are the main problems you're having?
I'm taking a little break right now. My fingers are killing me. I'm working on "Delta Child" and "All Forms". I'm finding these the most difficult studies in BYCU. I got "Rockin' and Rollin'" (with minor flaws) down in far less time than either of these.
"Delta Child" - I can do the full bend on the 2nd fret G string. The problem I'm having is with the release-pull off part. Gettiing it clear and trying to mute unwanted strings from ringing. I had a problem in bar 15, where it's 2 triplets followed by 2 quadruplets, but by counting out loud I was able to get the timing down. Griff Hamlin is the major proponent of counting out loud and he harps on it relentlessly. It's worth learning to do. The other thing about this study that I found difficult is to keep the groove going. If you lose the groove the whole thing falls apart. I thought I was going to be able to record and upload this today, but no way. This needs more work.
"All Forms Blues" - I really like this study, but it is a monster. I've got it down fairly well through the 8th measure. There are like 23 full bends in this one. Plus several bend-release-pull offs (John G. apparently really like this technique, and it is a good one to master). It was my plan to have this one nailed by next weekend, but it may take longer. I don't want to upload a crappy version of this. This one needs to be good for the graduation ceremony.
I'm chomping a the bit to get into "More BYCU," but won't open the book until I get "Delta Child" nailed. I'm typically working on 2 studies at any given time to keep from getting sick of playing any one study over and over. I then bounce between the 2. When I get the 1st one down I'll start on another. That way I always have 2 to work on. One I'm finishing up and one I'm just starting.
