That was a wonderful article. Thanks for sharing. When I was into strength training (not competitive, just for myself) I discovered on my own that it was made up of peaks followed by very long plateaus, regardless of what other people said or the hype of people selling the methods to get you there in just 30 days.
I've found exactly the same thing to be true over the last 9 months since taking up the guitar again. I go along for weeks with seemingly no improvement, and then BANG - I'm able to play something with ease that gave me all kinds of problems a few weeks ago.
That's why I always recommend that when somebody hits a brick wall on a particular study to move on to the next and come back to the problem study later. By the time you go back you may find that you've hit a peak and have developed the technical ability to play what you couldn't play a month ago.
