I would download the free version of Amplitube 3 also. It's simply outstanding, both for post-processing of recordings, and as a realtime virtual amp.

That uses the exact same Pod Farm software that I've got, I really like it. You can get just about any sound you want out of it.
I think you mentioned you play bass as well? There are some bass amp models in there too.

I have a pocket pod, not sure the software is the same if it is it will give a lot of settings. I really bought mine for practicing with headphones and I like it except for battery consumption.

I use a Line 6 UX2 with Podfarm software. The unit you're looking at only allows you to plug in one instrument at a time, and I believe you cannot use it with a microphone. The UX1 that Jack has will allow you to plug in either an instruments OR a microphone. My UX2 will allow me to plug in either two instruments, two microphones, or one of each at a time. I've been very happy with mine as well. I think using an audio interface and plugging directly into it, then using software amp and effects modeling, is the easiest way to get decent sounding recordings.
