Second song from R&B You Can Use. I think I put way too much chorus on the rhythm part, but oh well; gotta play around with the Pod Farm soundcloud.com/jack-c8/lost-love

Thanks Mick! I just love the songs in that R&B book. They're so melodic and beautiful.

OK, Jack, take a breather, the rest of us can't keep up. Very nicely done. I can't find a damn thing to critique. A little off topic: If you haven't seen the documentary "Muscle Shoals" check it out. It's right up your alley if you're into R&B. In fact, it's interesting no matter what genre of music you're into as is "20 feet from Stardom". Wonderful insights into the music business. Phil PS. It's a good feeling to get a positive comment John G. himself. That's a great motivator.

Hey Jack, that was great! Very impressive. Keep the R&BYCU tunes coming. I think I'm going to have to get that book as well!

Jack,
Another really well-played recording. I love the sound of these R&BYCU tracks. Man, you'll be done with this book before I never get another video done!

Thanks so much guys! I think it's the beauty of these songs rather than my playing that makes them sound good - I just try to do them justice Phil - thanks! and um...sorry about that Hey it's not my fault you've been slackin' off for 7 weeks LOL. But don't worry, these are just the first couple of songs in the book. They get much more complex later on and you'll see my pace of posting them slow way down. Thanks for the tip on those documentaries, they sound really interesting. And oh yeah, getting a thumbs up from John G is really a wonderful motivator Mick - I know exactly how you feel. I ordered a new set of headphones from Amazon and they're supposed to be here Saturday; we'll both be excitedly checking out mail boxes for the next few days Tommy - thanks! And yeah you should check the R&B book out too. I know I certainly am enjoying it. Bruce - thanks! These are some great songs, a nice little departure from the regular blues stuff. And hey I'm expecting another video from you by Monday next week at the latest! None of this 2525 stuff, I'll be too old to enjoy it lol.

Hey it's not my fault you've been slackin' off for 7 weeks LOL. Yeah, I've lost my callouses completely. You don't realize how important they are to your playing until you lose them. I won't be recording anything until I build them back up. Phil

Phil Yeah that's tough - after switching from 9's to 10's I think I've just now gotten to the point where I can practice whatever I want for as long as I want again. I've got very fresh memories of how it feels. But it's good to get in a decent practice session, have sore fingers, but know you'll wake up the next day and they'll have hardened up a bit. Just keep chippin' away at it.

What else is there to say if the master himself gives such high praises. Also funny how fast those callouses soften up compared to build up time.

....Also funny how fast those callouses soften up compared to build up time. I meant to mention that. It seems they take forever to build up and disappear so damn fast. I'm strung with 11's right now and plan to leave them on for at least 2 more weeks to build up strength. Then I'll switch to DR Pure Blues 10's. The DR's bend like butter. I'm hoping to get criticized for bending sharp. By then I should be ready to record something. I'm working on "Blue Sixths" and dabbling with "Hard Rocker" and "Rockin' n Rollin'." Phil

Wow, thanks so much Mick! I love that song, so much emotion just pouring out of those six magical strings. All those hammer-ons remind me a lot of the phrasing in Little Wing. It's awesome that you're working through this book and we get to hear your take on all these songs too!

Thanks Jack, I very much feel that emotion too, I really hope I can do this tune some sort of justice, John has done a great job giving us such wonderful learning material, and this is only lesson 2!!!! I've just programmed the drum track so I can take off those training wheels again .
