That sounded pretty darn good to me. I am waiting on an Apogee interface so can do some recording, this is one of my favorite past times on the forum, hearing people's progress and getting good feedback on mine. Keep posting I listen to them all even if I don't comment, gives me motivation.

That sounded pretty good to me also, way way better than I'm doing at the moment with this tune. At the moment full tempo feels like an impossible speed. Lovely clean sounding chord at the end, I'm having a lot of trouble making that ring!! I can see you have really put a lot of practice into that lesson, great job Jack.

Thanks guys! Yeah that one's got some hours of practice into it lol. I put the CD version and the backing track in Reaper and then started each practice session by turning down the tempo to 120 and playing through it a few times, then 130, 140 and finally full tempo. I'd always get excited because I could play it pretty well at 140 and what's 150? A mere fraction faster. Unfortunately my fingers didn't seem to agree with that logic at all LOL.
I could probably work on it for another week or two but I decided it would be a better use of my time to move on to lesson 21 and also All Forms Blues; speed will come naturally in time.
And Cunningr, get that Apogee software - and blackcountrymick nail that chord at the end! Really looking forward to hearing your guys' stuff!

Thanks Tbone! I've been putting a lot of work into getting those darned bends to pitch but still have a long way to go. I think I did get a half dozen of them right in that song, which is sort of a record for me LOL. I was listening to some of my earlier recordings yesterday and egads, they made me cringe.
I've found some things helpful, like:
1) Recording myself playing a single chord over and over and then improvising over it and bending up to the notes in the chord. So far I can't really hear the note in the chord that I'm bending up to, but I can hear that my bend either is or is not in tune with something in the chord.
2) Recording a regular I IV V progression and just making my improvising into one big practice session for bends. I seem to be (very gradually) getting a better ear for what's in tune and what's not.
3) Playing along with the CD at a slowed down tempo and just focusing on hitting the same pitches John is hitting.
Anyhow, looking forward to hearing your rendition of this song and Delta Blues Tbone!

Jack,
Very cool! I like it a lot. That's a tough one for sure, and you've done a great job with it. Your work is paying off, for sure.

Thanks Bruce! That song's a tough one and I could have probably spent another week or two on it but I think All Forms Blues will be just as challenging trying to get all those bends to sound good - and that's the kind of work I desperately need

Wow!That was great, Jack. I didn't notice the "smattering of missed notes and questionable bends." I just enjoyed listening to it.

That was damn good, Jack. It could use some polishing but you already know that. I agree, move on and come back to this in a couple of weeks.

Thanks Phil! Yeah I think moving on to All Forms Blues will be a really good exercise in bending and then there's plenty of stuff in MBYCU that's fast and will help that aspect of my technique. Probably best to just move forward and come back to this song later when it's not pushing my playing to its limits
