Well, a good week of playing and recording for me! Got BRYCU - Ninth Chord Rhythm In A done with a nice tone and got a biggie I've been working on down too, namely BGIAB - I Believe. Glad with how it all turned out and I think the recordings sounded pretty good too! (see the respective posts for each of those). The music reading was a little bit of a back burner this week, sadly This week...onwards with BRYCU - High Nines In D. Then some BYCU - Delta Child, though I'm still struggling to remember the order of the bars for this one, they're all similar so my brain is mixing them up... a lot Definitely got to get some music reading in there! I have BGIAB - I Got The Blues mostly organised, so more practise of this to get it ready for recording - this one is 8bar blues style and runs to 3:30mins length with a main solo at the end, the rest is rhythm work, which is taxing when you keep trying to speed up and not follow the band Finally, I've decided to throw some Troy Stetina's Total Rock Guitar in there for some rock mix - I'm working on Rockability as we speak. This is 162bpm so flies a bit and if I miss a beat I'm off for the rest Still, lots of fun things to work through. Not bored at the moment with it all, so that's a positive thing

I'm still working on "going to California." I'm getting used to the thumb pick now - I did a few recordings and there are little bits here and there that don't actually sound all that bad It is such a weird song - the verses have a melody part that basically starts on the high string, next note is on the low string (who does that?!?!) then it's on to the B and G strings. Worse yet, the first note on the high E is actually on the "and" of the previous beat 4, and the note on the low E is on beat one. I finally figured that out after a month and a half. Everything suddenly fell into place one I started playing it correctly lol. Next week I'm hoping to get at least a preliminary recording done, with just one guitar. Eventually it will be double tracked but...that will take some time Same with the mandolin part.

Hey guys, I'm still alive and well. And picking up the guitar nearly every day.
My efforts aren't particularly focused. I've spent a lot of time just sort of noodling around and finding things that are difficult for my fingers to do, then work on them until they become semi-comfortable and then expand into variations on them. It seems like those exercises if they can be called that are working pretty well. I've mostly been playing my AT100 (bearing Andy's signature, lol) which has a slimmer neck than my other strat clone, and my tele clone. I also went down to 0.009s and am really liking that change. Along with the noodling exercises I've been working very consciously on touch as it's quite easy with the 0.009s to rattle the strings. So it's can be fairly intense simultaneous concentration on picking and fretting.
I still have a number of songs (snippets mostly) I'm working on. They are getting better as I spend time on the noodling exercise without giving them a ton of time, which is encouraging. I'm not working out of any books at this time, but still have plans to finish off BLYCU.
In general I'm now more than a year into my overall health/rejuvenation program and still having good success with it. I mentioned before that I thought it had a very noticeable positive impact on guitar, and I'm more sure of that now.
Hope everyone is doing well.
