Here's to encouraging everyone to get back into the flow of reporting back and helping eachother to feel motivated and enthusiastic with the daily practice grind... The log cabin has finally been finished with Internet and power cabled in. The windows are double glazed - so less noise bleed During this hiatus I re-learnt a couple of songs from "Blues Gig In A Box" by Griff Hamlin. I'm intending to record them soon with the new Bugera Valve amp and mic setup, but need a little more time for "polishing" my efforts, including using pedals while playing them. I'm also finalising pedals for a new recording pedal rig - but I'll bore you with more details on that some other time. I'm also working on another piece from the book "12-Bar Blues Solos" by Dave Rubin, this is most likely to be recorded next (probably this Saturday). Recording mid-week may prove easy in summer when daylight is longer - until then, it'll be limited to weekends for me... unless I convert the log cabin into a professional filming studio too

Well, OK, I picked up BYCU last night and it pretty much felt like starting all over again, very rusty, so that's my first goal set then. BYCU and BRYCU reviewing both books. Thanks wpb, and enjoy your new cabin studio.

I started working on "Going to California" by Led Zeppelin. It's a fingerpicked acoustic piece; I've kind of sort of got the verse part memorized, and am working on the other 3 parts. I'm just up to maybe 83% of full tempo, and there's quite a ways to go to get it up to full tempo - it's 152 BPM. There's also a mandolin part, which is the lead instrument in some parts, but other times it's so far back in the mix that I can hear the pick hitting the string, but I have no idea what notes he's playing. I'm muddling my way through a couple of tabs, trying to combine them into something that's "in the ballpark." Like I say - long ways to go to even memorize this, and even further to get it up to speed. Nothing a few hundred hours of practice won't fix Glad to see some activity here on the forum!
