Hope everyone is well and just off enjoying holidays. I finally got my refurbished AT-100 back. I think I put up the pick of Andy T holding it while he visited the workshop of the guy who did the refret. I'm sworn to secrecy regarding who did the work because of a collaboration he's doing with AT, but the guy is good, haha. It's like a completely different guitar. Besides swapping out the trashed nickel frets for SS, I also went down to .009 strings which I'm liking a lot. Easier to play and brighter (along with the frets) which offsets the warmth of the rail pickups.
Still playing every day. I composed one of my goofy compositions for a holiday recording, but I'm having a ton of difficulty coming up with the right bass/drums from my VSTs, so it looks like I won't get it completed, at least not in time for the holidays. But it's been fun watching the guitar part evolve since the first bits came together over the summer. Just a simple strummy thing that's neither bluesy nor in any way holiday themed.

Good to hear from you Grampa, I thought this place had died I finished "Hungry" by White Lion a while ago: Now I'm working on "Wait" also by White lion. Mostly been working on the solo, though I do have quite a bit of the song memorized. Just been too busy/lazy to get my usual morning and evening practice sessions in, so songs are taking me 2 months instead of the usual 1. Not to mention songs by Vito Bratta are about as challenging as it gets lol. I've got a mandolin wrapped up under the tree, an Eastman MD305. I'd like to play "Battle of Evermore" by Led Zeppelin, and maybe "Maggie May" by Rod Stewart. Well, I hope all you guys are doing well and finding some time for music

Phew, glad someone broke the silence!
Grampa, it's good to hear that you're still getting in some good practice.
Jack, wow, that's a heck of display of technique, rhythm and timing! I could not pull that off...
I also manage to get in some good practice for the time being. It's mainly centered around jazz rhythm playing right now, but I have an urge to get back at some blues pentatonic soloing. I even got out More Blues You Can Use the other day, and I realized that right now I am further away being able to play those studies than ever before. It's a small consolation that the tricky chord parts come easier now, though. I am still taking lessons, working on "Goodbye Blue Sky" and some "Blues for Basie", and that's cool, the teacher is both nice and very competent. I do miss the old lessons with John, though. Those were good times...

Good to hear from you guys again! I've been on "guitar exile" trying to let tendonitis and arthritis in my picking wrist cool down. Missing it a lot, but the wrist is so much better now... Haven't really decided on a direction yet - maybe try going back to finger style playing, maybe get back to learning harmonica, maybe try to learn some piano/keyboard, or try to learn some singing. I'll try to check in periodically. Hope everyone has a good Christmas holiday!
