I missed a couple of weeks because if travels, but I am home now. I am still playing around with soloing ideas for Autumn Leaves, as well as different tunes for my guitar lessons.
In about a month our band is performing for family members, so I need to wrap up different ideas soon.

Welcome back, Joachim. Good luck with your band show! I had a pretty minimal week. Gave my wrist a mild sprain when I embarrassingly tripped over my own clumsy feet, so I've kind of laid off guitar all week. Oh well, it's always something, isn't it?

Not a good week for me either, my back decided it was going to be stiff as a board so I spent Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday just laying in the recliner watching TV. Did get a bit of practice in towards the end of the week. Got a little bit of recording done on "Hungry" but still has a ways to go.

I had a pretty decent week. Even started thinking about whether I want to do a holiday-themed project this year.

I was invited to participate in another Jazz guitar collaboration on Frank Vignola's Truefire Channel. That gives me a goal to work towards. Jack has his projects that motivate him, Joachim has in-person lessons AND a band that's counting on him, Grampa, Bruce and everybody else here all have some kind of thing that motivates them. These collaborations are about the only thing that keeps me motivated now-a-days. First thing I'll do is learn the melody and the chords to the selected tune, "Polka Dots and Moonbeams". Then I'll work out a solo for the whole 32 bars. In a week or so the guy doing the arrangement will assign me my part for the harmonized melody and tell me which 8-bar section I'll get to solo over. Being forced to workout an original solo is the fun part of this thing for me. Jack - I threw out my lower back about 12 days ago. Standing up from sitting or laying down caused excruciating pain for a week. I had to grab a chair or table for support in order to stand up. It's much better now but I'm afraid to make a wrong move. I didn't hurt my back while working out or lifting anything heavy. I was sitting on the floor measuring a baseboard and stood up. That's it! Back screwed up for almost 2 weeks.

That's pretty much exactly like me; I'm okay sitting down but getting back up - do it slowly and with as much help as possible lol. I don't even know what I did to it, just last Saturday when laying in bed I noticed it was a bit uncomfortable. Sunday it was getting noticeably stiff. By Monday I was 100% out of commission. I had planned to put a lot of work in on "Hungry" over the last week but of course got in hardly any. Sitting in my office chair where I play guitar was the most uncomfortable thing of all for some reason. So this will be the first time in a long time I have nothing to present for Griff's "fixit" session. Oh well, hopefully November will be more productive, and less painful.
