I had an okay week, kind of busy but found some time to practice. Mostly working on "Hungry" by White Lion. I've got maybe half of the rhythm part memorized (to the point where I occasionally make it through without forgetting what comes next) and I'm practicing it at 80% tempo. I'm getting some of the easier parts in a bit of a groove but his fast little fills need plenty more practice. This week I hope to get the rest of the rhythm guitar part memorized and perhaps even start on the solo. I've been keeping the solos for "Headed for a Heartbreak" in the practice rotation as well, as I eventually want to do that entire song with keyboards and bass. Trouble is I can never find enough time to really put the amount of work needed into one song, much less two. Hope you guys are all doing well

I had a fairly good week, too. I think last week was just an outlier (where I barely picked up the guitar at all). I think I played some every day this week. Been trying to learn Sweet Home Chicago and The Thrill Is Gone from Hal Leonard Blues guitar play-along book. Also have restarted Guitar Aerobics - I think the structured daily assignment format works well to at least get the guitar into my hands, and then once I get started it seems kind of easy just to play some other stuff, too. It also gives you something structured when you just have 5-10 minutes before going somewhere, etc - so it's really easy to work on the days assignment for a few minutes here and there through the day.

Hey guys. I'm still hanging around. Been doing a lot of work around the house and my whole body hurts. What I've been doing guitar-wise is a little different. I've been playing with my son 2 or 3 times a week. However, we've been ending up working things out together rather than actually playing songs. What kind of things? Jazz standards, chord progressions focusing on movement like "waking" a chord from one inversion to another with passing chords between and a lot of time working out solos for Jazz standards using some basic concepts that are a bit formulaic occasionally produce some interesting stuff. It's kind of fun doing this kind of exploring even if I can't play half the stuff we stumble upon. Jack: Your playing on your recent upload was great, as usual. You can really do that tapping stuff well. Bruce: I recorded Magic Sam's version of Sweet Home Chicago a while back -the Intro and 3 choruses of his solos. I actually tabbed it out in Guitar Pro. If you're interested I'll send you a copy in either GP5 Format or a PDF. Here's a link to the audio. The audio quality is pretty bad by today's standards.

Thanks, Phil. I remember you posting that (Soundcloud says it was 9 years ago!). I'd love to have your Guitar Pro file. I'm something of a Guitar Pro junky. Their latest version (8, I believe) allows you to import audio (like backing tracks), and mark the measures to sync it up with the rest of the GP file. Then you can adjust the tempo without changing the pitch. It's a fantastic learning tool. Send me a PM if you don't have my e-mail.
