Gents,
Well, I'm back in the real world now. Nice to have all my guitar toys surrounding me again. I didn't get to play a ton the last week due to all the busywork closing down and heading back. But I got some good time in last night and this morning. Looking forward to really get in the swing of it as this week progresses.

Grampa, I am glad to hear you're settled in again.
I am working on a chord-melody home-work assignment for Autumn Leaves this week. Trying to get worked up for Thurday + band practice Wednesday will keep me busy.

I'm not sure what happened this past week - it just whizzed by in a whirlwind of activities, and I only got out my guitar for a few minutes only one or two times. Hopefully next week will be a better guitar report.

I had an okay week, here's my solos from "Headed for a Heartbreak" My plan was to continue working on them this month, and also do the rhythm guitar, bass and keyboard parts for the song. But Griff suggested I should work on "Hungry" by White Lion so I've been messing around with that for a little bit. There's more going on in the rhythm guitar part than most people have in their solos lol. And then there's the solo. For "Heartbreak" I guess those solos will (probably) end up being the finished product, and I'll just do the rhythm guitar parts sometime. I installed a new 4 TB drive in my computer, along with the new power supply which I bought a couple years ago and never got around to putting in. Everything seems to be working okay, so now it's just a matter of re-downloading and installing everything again. I'm thinking my guitar playing might be a little light this week EDIT: Oh for Christ's sake...it's telling me my 4 TB drive is 2 TB. WTF?!?! So I look into it and in Windows, your boot drive (Drive C) must use UEFI firmware, which only supports 2 TB. So there's two hundred bucks wasted. Guess I'll delete a load of crap off my old 2 TB drive and see if I can put it on my other 2 TB drive, or maybe my new 4 TB drive (You can format a non-boot drive to GUID partition table so it can actually handle 4 TB). And they wonder why I say "f***" so damned much.

Jack, both of those solos sound really good! Hope you get the computer sorted out! You can spend untold hours on that kind of stuff (and they are NOT happy hours).

Thanks so much guys! I appreciate it Yah I got the OS on a 2 TB drive and after following all the instructions online, using my 4 TB drive as an additional disk, I've now got it to show up as a 2 TB drive. Sigh...these are not happy hours

Jack, sounding good!
In the spirit of misery loves company, I'm having computer woes this week too. My old laptop is physically starting to fall apart, on top of the fact that it just doesn't have the horsepower to keep up with Windows 10 anymore. So I ordered a new one with enough extra hoursepower that it should handle the OS easily and let me get back to being able to sketch simple things into a DAW with it (advantageous during hideout season). It arrived Monday afternoon, unboxed it, followed all the instructions, hit the on key and ... nothing. Let it charge an hour ... still nothing. A few hours ... then overnight. Nothing. Ordered through amazon so now going through the return processing (first time I've ever had to return something bought online) and I ordered a somewhat beefier version of the same laptop through amazon but a different vendor. The first one was described as 'new', and that certainly appeared to be the case when I unboxed it, but I was underwhelmed by how it was packaged for shipping. Either it was a dud from the manufacturer or it got bounced around too much in shipping/handling.
The replacement is scheduled to arrive later today and hopefully things will go better.
My desktop (and main music computer) is arranged like you described. It came with a 512M SSD and a 2T sata with the OS being installed on the SSD. Once I started collecting plugins, especially keyboard and virtual instrument stuff, it became clear both that the SSD wasn't big enough for everything, and the sata couldn't keep up with busy multitrack projects when multiple plugins had to access it continually. So I added a bigger SSD, ported all the plugin stuff/sample libraries and DAW to it, and use the sata just for project/audio storage/backup, and the original SSD now just has the OS and non-music stuff (browser and such). Even though I haven't done a major project since making all the changes it seems to work pretty good overall. Was a big time sink getting everything arranged though, so I feel for you.

Thanks Grampa! I hope your new laptop works a little better than the last one! I decided to return the 4 TB drive - even using it as a non-boot drive, I couldn't get Windows to recognize it as anything but a 2 TB drive. So I used the other 2 TB drive I already had and did a fresh install on that. Got the DAW, video editing software, webcam software etc. loaded onto that and it seems to be working okay. I just started loading all those sound libraries on it but so far I've still got 1.59 of 1.81 TB free, so hopefully that will hold everything. Then when I'm sure I don't need anything from my old drive I'll reformat it and use that for additional storage. Oh well at least I've got it to the point where I can spend most of my time practicing guitar instead of messing with the damned computer lol.
