I got in a moderate amount of practice last week, just working on "Headed for a Heartbreak" by Winger. Don't feel like I accomplished much, I just work on the first solo (which is coming along okay) and the tapping part of the outro solo. The tapping is a challenge First, it's fast and complex, not the nice symmetric patters Randy Roads might use. So it's a big job just to get it under my fingers - it's 12 notes per bear, so...duodecuple or two sextuplets. Ever try to practice with a metronome that ticks every 12 notes? Not too easy to stay in time with. And it's not like there are groups of 4 notes and after the third group, comes the beat. No, the thirteenth note that marks the next beat is somewhere in the middle of an ascending sequence that bears no relation to anything rhythm related. I'm gonna have to break it up, play the first 12 notes and pause, the next 12 and pause etc. until I get a feeling for where the beats occur. That means slowing down from my current 50% speed to something like 25% I suppose. Sigh...nose to the grindstone Anyhow hope you guys are doing well!

Jack, that solo sounds like a real bear! Keep working it, I'm sure you'll get it down. I had kind of an off week guitar wise - just wasn't feeling it much for whatever reason. I did, though, try to record some vocals to some of my Hal Leonard play-alongs. This served as a strong reminder that I'm an even worse singer than a guitarist! I'll be out of town this week and weekend, so probably won't get much guitar in (and probably won't post next weekend).

A little late to the party. Last week was kind of a bummer for me practice wise. Too busy with family and home improvement projects. I hope this week will be better. Our band started on "Round Midnight", which is kind of cool.
