I played it slightly differently than it is on the CD, but I think it sounds cool. It's got my usual assortment of screw-ups of course Let me know what you guys think - good or bad. Especially bad, I often don't notice stuff I'm doing wrong because I'm used to hearing myself play it that way. soundcloud.com/jack-c8/delta-mood

I like it alot! It's a nice way of playing it - I think your version adds more "call and response" than the CD recording.
And nice with more recorded lessons to listen to - thanks for sharing!

Jack,
VERY cool! Love the tone on that one - really has some bite to it. Yeah, I think you can either try to imitate these lessons or you can bend 'em around - it's all good. Very nicely done.

Thanks so much guys, glad you like it! I love that Delta Blues style stuff and like to give it a nice "bite" as you say. I'd really like to work on coming up with some of my own songs in this style.

Way to go, Jack. Once again, nicely played and great tone. I'll nit-pick a bit since I haven't recorded this one yet. I think those arpeggiated chords should have rung out a little longer. But then again, maybe you did that on purpose. Did you find this study to be more difficult than you thought it would be? I know I did. I need to go back and practice and record it. I kind of glossed over it because I had a hard time with it. The string skipping was hard for me. Phil

Yeah when I listen back to it I'm thinking I should have let the chords ring out longer too. I didn't even realize I was cutting them off like that. I guess I was cutting off the low notes and just naturally applied the same phrasing to the high notes without even thinking about it. I didn't find this one very difficult to play, though I did develop a habit of missing the first note on the low strings after finishing the chord on the high strings. My right hand is still kind of rusty, I'll be playing through a solo and just miss a couple of notes with my pick for no reason at all. There are about three examples of that in this song lol. Hopefully that will just work itself out over time because it's pretty aggravating when I've got an otherwise good recording of a song, except for those few really important notes that are just not there. You should record this and post it, I'd like to hear it! This Delta style stuff has always been my favorite.

Well done! While I noticed a couple of the missed notes, I really thought nothing of it. In live performances notes are missed all the time and most people don't notice them. My mom always said if you make a mistake while playing just keep going and no one will notice. A guitar instructor told me that when you make a mistake just repeat it and everyone will think it's part of the tune! But all in all, your rendition is great.

That's my American Strat (middle pickup) through the Pod Studio UX1 and Pod Farm, recorded in Audacity. I used the Brit J800 amp model which is a simulation of the Marshall JCM 800, and the 4X12 Brit Celestion T-75s cabinet. I used a compressor, noise gate and spring reverb as well.

Thanks I have a pocket pod so I think I might see if I can make a similar set up. So far been using the blues preset and the tube preamp with garage band.
