My sketchy access to wifi is working this morning so allow me to do the honors:
Got a fair amount of playing between fishing jaunts. I'm still not real organized in my approach, just working the next iteration ofthings I started learning long ago. And I've been going over some stuff I still remember from the lessons I took for a while a year ago this past spring. I've decided I want to learn a few new-to-me classic rock songs over the summer, and would like any suggestions. I'm trying to break out of a rut and try some new things not among the usual things I would gravitate towards. I'm hoping to find the sweet spot of a good challenge but doesn't require total virtuosity. So aside from doing the same things I've been doing, I'll be looking to put together a list of new song candidates.

Grampa, something like "China Grove" by the Doobie Brothers might fit the bill. It's got that cool rhythm part with the delay thing going on and the solo isn't any harder than a lot of the stuff towards the end of Blues You Can Use. It's always hard picking out songs that will challenge you but with enough work, might be doable. There have been several times where I've worked on a song for a month and finally given up - my fingers just won't move that fast. At least not without several more years of practice. I had a moderately okay week, working on "Women in Love." Trying to get a good guitar sound for the intro - with the tapped harmonics - is proving to be a huge chore. With a bright sound, I can get the notes to ring out pretty well, but Eddie uses a very warm, mellow sound. I watched a video of him playing it live and he leaves out certain notes, counting on the delay to fill those in. Getting a delay so loud that it actually fills in missing notes, but doesn't completely obscure the other ones you're playing...how the hell did he do that?!?! He's also got a chorus or flanger or something going on that makes it sound entirely different than a regular guitar. I was kind of happy I can play the solo (all hammer-ons and pulluffs) up to speed. Ah well, work continues

Had a pretty good week, geetar-wise. Played some every day, and I even finally made it over to our storage unit and picked up my old video lights! Haven't tried setting them up yet, or recording anything. Grampa, I've been in the same search mode - to find some songs that are challenging, but doable at my humble skill level. I'd like to get some blues songs as well as a few classic rock type songs. It'd be nice to avoid getting into anything completely over my head (leading to becoming frustrated). A lot of Beatles and CCR songs seem to fall into this range, but you may not find them as challenging as you'd like.

Hey, guys. Still practicing the same thing - improvising concepts to be used over Jazz standards. However, I've moved onto a different song. I don't know if I'll ever be able to do this on the fly, but I'm coming up with some phrases that I'm pretty happy with. Like I said last week, I need to do a video so you can see what I'm talking about.

Hi guys, still picking up guitar most days for at least an hour. Lost motivation a bit just doing the Stetina lessons so decided to learn a classic rock solo instead...Smoke on the Water. There are bits way too fast for me at the moment so have created drills based on the difficult phrases. Hopefully this should help build some repertoire. I can already play riffs and rhythm etc and most of the bass part. Probably looking at something like Paranoid next, that might be a bit more doable re solo difficulty. Take care and keep on rockin'

Not many changes in my practice routine. I have lesson later today, first in a while due to holidays and cancellations. We're going to talk about rhythm playing for "All of me" and "Autumn Leaves", and maybe few soloing ideas.
