Not as as much practice time as I'd have liked this last week. I did spend some time on beginner jazz lessons, trying to learn some ideas for Autumn Leaves. When I have enough time, I'd like to study Clapton's version, to get an idea of a more bluies based soloing approach to that song.

I'm still dicking around with the same thing I talked about last week. However, now I've got another guitarist to do it with me a couple of times a week. We've been pushing each other to get it right thru repetition way beyond anything we would do by ourselves. This coming week we're going to try and improvise using the scales and arppegios we've been practicing over the Jazz standard, "Out of Nowhere". It's going to sound horrible, but I think it will be fun.

Joachim, you may already know this but 2 of the bluesiest Jazz guitarists were Kenny Burrell and Grant Green. Check them out if you're not familiar with them.

I had an okay week, probably got in an hour of practice most days. Still working on "Shine," did some recording of the rhythm part the other day and it sounds pretty rushed during one part. That darned thing sounds like it would be easy to play, but between having to get the palm muting (and how hard I pick) just right and tossing in all the muted open a string stuff while keeping it in time - and very relaxed - is quite a challenge. As far as the solo, I'm making progress. Almost got it up to full tempo but it's pretty sloppy and needs MUCH more practice before it's presentable. My workouts are going good - lost 5 lbs in the last 2 weeks and my blood pressure is approaching normal. Though, doing a workout and then mowing the lawn afterwards...I was totally useless the next day lol. My Fitbit watch died a while ago so now I got an Apple watch. It's got that "Siri" thing on it so now I can talk to my watch like I'm Dick Tracy or something. I am so cool

I'm late again.
The one thing I leaned this week is that all is relative. I tried playing while standing several times last week and I learned that my arms have grown longer which makes it much easier to play standing (okay, my arms are the same but my girth is much less). Still really just doing for-fun playing and working on a few old songs. I'm also still sticking to my observation that being in better health means better guitarring.

Nothing much to report here. Been off to visit my daughter in Atlanta for a long weekend. Hope to get my new music room setup (or at least begin to do so) this week...
