I had a good week, actually got in 2 hours of practice every day. I'm hoping to get "Into the Arena" up to 90% tempo by the end of the month, and then work on 100% by the end of April. It's actually coming along okay - I can play it at 90% with some really sloppy spots, so I'll work on those with a metronome and (hopefully) get them cleaned up. This song has been a huge favorite of mine for ages, so I'm on a mission Hope you're all doing well.

I had another poor week guitar-wise. I think I picked up the guitar everyday but one, but it was just "noodling" and nothing directed at all. I've fallen off the Guitar Aerobics for the past couple of weeks. We've begun the dreaded "boxing up" in preparation for moving. My audio interface and studio monitors are in a box, and I'm not sure when they will re-emerge. I've had to case my guitars to try to protect them from the melee. My Stratocaster and Yamaha THR desktop amp are still out, though, and I'll probably just keep those with me, wherever we end up. We're supposed to tour our condo again this evening, so here's hoping they've made good progress!

Hi guys. I'm revisiting the Stetina books as I mentioned a few weeks ago. I've worked through the first 2 chapters of the Rhythm book, the first 3 songs from the Total Rock book and the first 2 chapters from the Lead book. I'm currently working on the chapter 2 study "To The Stage", this is as far as I have ever gotten with this book and never previously played it good enough to record. I'm at about 90% speed but not that clean, so more work to do!!! I've also been working on a slow blues in Gm study, speed is not too much of an issue but lots of string bending, man my fingertips are taking a bashing . Both of these are candidates for getting back into attempting recording vids again....hopefully. I've been lining up my next project in addition to continuing with the Stetina books. I'm currently thinking about a complete song, very likely a classic rock tune cover with multiple guitar parts and maybe some bass. I'm absolutely loving what Jack is doing with his cover songs ("Crazy Train" just blew my mind) so I'm jumping onto his bandwagon . I hope you don't mind Jack Well, that's my aims for the next month or so.

Jump on the bandwagon Mick! The more the merrier I'll usually get the backing track(s) from the "Karaoke version" website - you get each instrument on its own track. Or go to YouTube and search for "[song name] backing" and, depending on how popular the song is, you may find a backing track with the original vocals. Or try "[song name] vocals" and sometimes you can find the isolated vocal track which you can use with the Karaoke version backing track (though you may have to tempo match them, though sometimes not). There's also the "digital split" channel on YouTube which has tons of songs, split into the individual instruments. Thanks for the kind words about "crazy Train," much appreciated!
