A slower week. Managed to record a piece and post it. Slow progress on the BYCU and BRYCU front. Reading and theory had a bit of improvement I've been asked to play at a very relaxed/informal choir event in about a month. One of the pieces includes a medley from Les Miserable; there are chords to work through and over 35 pages of scored music to follow for just this medley - however, I see it as an opportunity to push myself, my playing, timing, performance and working with sheet music live as it happens. There are 2 formal rehearsals before the event.

That sounds like a great fun (and challenging) event WPB. I had an okay week, started doing a bit of recording of "Rock of Ages." The solo has a couple of full step bends with a big ol' rock 'n roll vibrato on them - those need work. I can play the rhythm parts fairly well, I'm still deciding exactly how; every tab and lesson on YouTube has it played differently lol. There's 2 guitars, one might play power chords while the other plays a riff, so it makes it a bit of a challenge to figure out how it's split up. and I'm having a hell of a time getting the right guitar sounds (as usual). Hope you guys are all doing well

Hi guys, just poking my head in the door and saying hello. I think I might have found some motivation and a little more me time to pick up guitar again. Been messing around for a couple of weeks now, reckon I've slipped back about 10 years in my playing ability, and with my 68th birthday in about 6 weeks I probably won't progress much further, we will see . I'm revisiting a lot of old stuff just to get familiar with my guitars again and harden up my fingertips. Good to see some familiar faces keeping this forum alive and posting some fantastic vids. Cheers, Mick

Sorry guys, I let Sunday slip by without posting. You know, ever since I retired, every day is a Saturday! Played every day but one this week. Doing Guitar Aerobics consistently, but otherwise just whatever catches my fancy that particular day. Welcome back, Mick! Good to hear from you again. Good luck in getting back into playing!

Mick, it's good to hear from you again. I didn't realize you were so close to my age. I always assumed you were a youngster like Jack and Bruce. Yeah, we're not going to make a whole lot of progress from here on out. However, I firmly believe that learning new things (songs, reading music, music theory, etc.) helps keep our old brains in shape.

I may be a "mere" 58 years old, but as long as your fingers are working fine, there's no reason you can't make all the progress you want. Our brains however...well now that's a problem
