Well,
Total Rock Guitar went well with track 1 down - almost got track 2 (Liquified) down for recording soon.
I managed to finalise then record an emotive AM piece that I'm proud of. The unison bends I managed to get right, which blew my mind on hearing them back, and the fast run at 0:45 went about as good as it can, I think it sounds good for me (after all my efforts and practice). Enjoy...

WPB, that was just beautiful! Lots of emotion and lots of cool chordal stuff as well, and very nicely played Tony, the good thing about getting old is that it brings with it a sense of peace - just so many things I don't give a s*** about any more. Hope you get your computer problems straightened out, reinstalling software is such a time consuming and frustrating task. I finally got Hotel California finished up. I put it on YouTube but they blocked it worldwide due to copyright, so here's a link to it on Dropbox: www.dropbox.com/s/qrnm6sxa5sqo7a3/WIN_20210326_15_32_16_Pro_6.mp4?dl=0See what you think of it

Sounding good, Wannaplay.
Jack, just wow on "Hotel California" - very cool! Yeah, The Eagles are one of the "blockers" that Rick Beato rants about.
Tbone, hope you get your computer straightened out. Just hate wasting time on "computer stuff"
I've just been working the same stuff: BLYCU, R&BYCU, and Autumn Leaves from Beginning Jazz Guitar Standards.

Thanks you so much Tony! This was probably the biggest project I've done so far with all the harmonies and harmonies on top of harmonies etc. lol. These songs really do teach a person a lot, not only as far as how the solo is composed but the overall song composition and arrangement as well. It's basically just the same chords from beginning to end, first arpeggiated, then strummed, and even the outro part of the solo is just the same chords done with triad inversions. Hope you get your computer fixed and glad I could give you some motivation

Thanks Bruce! Yeah kind of kills a person's enthusiasm knowing the people who wrote the song don't want you to play it, but oh well, I'll just make sure to do songs by more reasonable folks from now on

This week I went down shredder alley. I was hugely inspired by this video. The most interesting thing I found from that video his his approach to playing was more up and down the neck and not across the strings.
This week I've been working on some speed mechanics. I've always struggled with playing things fast. I have a little exercise i came up with to just try and work on alt picking pivots, finger independence and hand synchronization. Not sure how much it's helping yet.
I'm also shopping for a new computer interface. The one I have is just too noisy and it's getting annoying and maybe there is money that is burning a hole in my pocket too. I'm narrowed it down to the Audient Id14, Motu M4, and Presonus 26c. The Axe i/o and Audient Sono are also really interesting options.

Nicely done, WPB. Keep up the good work.
Jack: That blew me away. The playing, the tones, the production quality, everything was great. That was well worth the effort.
I had kind of a down week. I picked up the guitar for at least a few minutes almost everyday but just couldn't get into it. Hope my enthusiasm reurns this coming week.
I have a suggestion (and that's all it is). I suggest that performance videos be posted in their own separate threads unless they're related - same song, lick, etc. Why? Well, primarily because each of these unique videos deserve their own spotlight. Secondly, they get lost in the shuffle and are hard to find or reference again.
What do you guys think?

Thanks so much Joachim and Phil! Much appreciated! Yeah Phil, that sounds like a good idea. I'll do that from now on

Not really clear to me why you didn't use the thread I aready opened for your post, but I guess you'll have your reasons, so I'll delete the whole thing and copy and paste here?!? Hey @tbone, I was in a rush and didn't see a date against any of your post titles so I assumed they weren't the weekly update. It wasn't a personal thing and wasn't intentional. Sorry.

Hey, thanks for getting back to me. No worries, no offense taken - I just wanted to avoid doubling of any sorts. As you probably can tell by the sheer amout of posts I send out these days I'm sitting in front of my laptop all day long, being a victim of darn home office rules. So, to keep myself interested, I always keep an eye on the forum and post whatever comes to mind - rarely a good idea... I realize that unfortunately every now and then I don't take the given structure into account, something which I should do in the future to come... I guess Phil's suggestion to collect similiar posts under one common thread makes sense and serves as good advise here as well. Threads take on a life of their own and often go off topic just like face to face conversations do. However, I was specifically referring to performance videos and videos where a person is looking for a critique. I think those videos should have their own dedicated threads so they don't get lost in another thread like the "Weekly Update" or never seen by people who didn't read the thread in which it is buried. It also makes it easier to reference and find again. Even if the thread goes way off topic someone could still easily find the video because of the title.
Don't feel that you should never go off topic or post any "stream of consciousness" posts. Those are the very things that keep a forum going.
