Are the spread rhythms in BRYCU lesson 1 and 2 palm muted? I know it's up to me to decide - but I'd like to practice an authentic sound...

Most definitely yes. Download some Jimmy Reed and hear for yourself. Listening to at least a little Jimmy Reed should be a requirement to post here. Phil

Hi Joachim and Phil,
I didn't palm mute at all on the tracks. All of the muting was done with my left (fretting) hand. You just let up a little. Palm muting gives you a different sound, with no real ringing notes - even briefly. More percussive. Nothing wrong with that, of course.

JG John, Man, you really let the air out of my balloon with that answer. I guess I should learn that there are few absolutes when it come to playing the guitar. However, on Jimmy Reed recordings it sure sounds like palm muting to me. Then again, it sounds like you are palm muting and you are not. Maybe, I just need to get my ears checked. Thanks for the input. Phil
