I had a good week - practiced every day and practiced quite a bit each day Still working on "Landslide", playing it from beginning to end now, and working on the second chorus by itself as well. I only use the thumb, index and middle fingers for picking most of the song, but the second chorus has some stuff that requires the ring finger as well, and it's sittin' there like "hey man I haven't done anything for two-thirds of the song, and now you want me to jump into action? Eh...gimme a minute. I practiced the solo a bit but really need to get to work on that this week.

Bout average week for me got solid 8 hours of practice in. No class this week as we are in feria. Working on a E blues lead that uses intervals in all 5 positions uses 4, 3b, 1, 7b, and 5 intervals. I am almost through all 5 positions. Also still working on rake with rag time tune were working on. Probably too much material for me to get through before wed though.

Still plucking away some, but been busy with lots of other stuff. I'll be MIA for a while - got to work next weekend, then will be on vacation for several weeks. I'll make it back eventually. Hoping to see some videos posted on here when I get back!

Didn't do much playing this week. We had a hurricane headed our way so we went to the mountains in Asheville, NC, for a few of days. We did a little exploring around The Great Smokey Mountain National Park. Quite a change from the swamp in Charleston, SC.

But i cant beleive you let a little ole hurricane interfere with guitar playing! Lol i rode out a cat 3 in Fl once never again.

I remember Hugo, it even affected us pretty notably where I was living in East Tennessee, quite a lot of rain and wind. It was unusual so far inland and sheltered by a mountain range to be affected by a storm to the east. I distinctly recall being at work walking with a friend between buildings when a beautiful fall day was disrupted by a very sudden shift in the in the wind. A cool and gentle breeze was replaced by a strong much warmer and humid wind (almost gale) from a different direction as quickly as you could snap your fingers. Quite striking. The rain didn't come for another 6 hours.
I returned to Illinois yesterday from my off-grid hideout in NE Minnesota. I'm at about 10 days and counting of not touching a guitar, or now that I think about it, not even seeing one outside of photos. Should be back home by this coming weekend so might have a scant report next week.

This is kind of funny - I've been busting my butt trying to play Landslide on 12 string, but in a professional studio,...oh good grief. To make it easier - and hence better - some bands record a regular 6 string guitar, then take another 6 string and put the high strings from a 12 string on it, and play them separately but combine them together to sound like a 12 string. Why didn't I think of that?!?!

put the high strings from a 12 string on it. Isn't that basically "Nashville Tuning"? Sounds like it. Never thought about doing that to fake a 12-string either, but it makes sense.
On a different note, I got out one of my guitars and tuned it up this morning. Lots of rust (me, not the instrument). My hands/fingers most certainly do not feel refreshed from the layoff. But my ears do.

Yup, that's what he calls it. I'd heard of it before but didn't actually know what it was.
