This is the last exercise from Fretboard Roadmaps that I've browsed through: soundcloud.com/joachim-dahl-1/jazzy-bluesThere's a big 1.5 bend that's a bit flat - I broke two e strings working on that song and even the flat bend makes my strings squeek, so I settled for a flat bend. That aside, I think it's a cool tune - it's an example for playing over 3rd and 4th position, and the last example in the book.

Well played i really liked the tune. I guess I need to add another book to the wish lit.

Nice playing, Joachim. The first thing that popped into my mind when I heard that was Ray Charles. That's an 8 bar blues, isn't it?

Sounds good, Joachim. Really soulful. Now that 8 bar blues doesn't sound country at all - and breaking two high E strings bending - way to go! Bruce

Thanks guys, yes - many of the examples in that book are short 8 bar pieces. I didn't think of Ray Charles, perhaps that's true... I think many of the lick examples in that chapter are B.B. King licks.

That sounded beautiful Joachim, timing's great, bends sound really good, and your guitar tone is just fabulous. Bravo!

I used the bridge pickup, which gives a fuller sound - before I've always used either the neck pickup or both pickups for the lead, but I think the bridge pickup on a clean amp suited this song pretty good.

King licks. It's definitely BB King and sounds like BB. Usually when I hear an 8 bar Blues I hear country, but this one has an unmistakeable R&B sound (at least to my ear) and Ray Charles sang a lot of this type of song. That's why I mentioned Ray Charles.

That's a wonderfully warm sound with just the right amount of bite. I've been watching tons of YouTube videos of semi-hollowbody guitars (if I can't buy one right now, I can at least do some shopping ) and the bridge pickup is always so obnoxiously bright; yours sounds fantastic.

Jack, I am a moron - this is recorded using the neck pickup - normally I used the bridge PU or both PUs for lead...

thank you, Jack - that is indeed very helpful! Perhaps it's not too late for John to include it in the 2nd edition. And I see you went for a new strat instead of a semi-hollow guitar...

And I see you went for a new strat instead of a semi-hollow guitar... I'm starting a new boy band and though that would help me appeal to the youth market

There goes Jack, showing off his geetar collection, again... I just want to be like my hero Well, that finally explains the lyric: "Move over, Rover and let Hello Kitty take over You know what I'm talkin' about yeah" I think that's from "Let Me Stand Next to Your Squier"
