I am having trouble hearing the cord changes in the 1st exercise in BLYCU. Any advice? Has anyone video taped themselves playing along to the Backing track?

follow up question.
The example at the beginning of the chapter shows a 12 bar quick change progression but the example with music notation and tab at the end of the chapter is a 12 bar progression.
Question is the play along track a quick change or a 12 bar blues?

Are you talking about the first lick in Blues Licks You Can Use? And with regard to your second question, the last example of Section 1 is played over the turnaround (last 2 bars). I'm not sure what you are asking.

I'M sorry, first John I love your books I have all of them.
Yes Blues Licks You Can Use.
Page 7 indicates that the tune is a C dominate 12-Bar Quick change but the example on page 14 "Putting the pieces together" is a 12 bar blues (not a quick change).
Since I was having trouble hearing the changes I thought maybe I was listening for a quick change when the play along is a 12 bar (not a quick change).
I am probably in over my head here, but I am having fun!

Hi Jeff,
If you are referring to Track 78, C Dominant 12-bar quick-change, it does in fact change to the IV chord in measure 2. The musical score on page 14 does not indicate that, but that is an error. It should read C7 (I) in the first bar, F7 (IV) in the second and C7 (I) in the third.
Listen more closely to the recording - you should hear it.
I hope that helps.
