Hi everyone,
I had to time the tunes to do the backing tracks. The metronome settings are as follows (BPM):
Texas Rock ---------------- 118 Blues Rock Tune ----------- 120 True BLue ----------------- 68 Swingin' ... ---------------- slow 69; full 132 Double Stop ... ----------- slow 69; full 96 Delta Mood ----------------- 66 Binding ... ------------------ 60 Bends, Slides .... --------- 66 Getting Funky -------------- slow 54; full 88 Lazy ... ---------------------- 60 Ninth Chord ... -------------- 69 Minor Blues ---------------- 54 More Minor ----------------- 60 Major Blues ----------------- 66 Hard Edge ... -------------- slow 46; full 72 Preaching Gospel ... ------ 63 Blue Sixths ----------------- 60 Hard Rocker ---------------- slow (between 116 & 120); full 152 Rockin' & Rollin' ------------ slow 88; full 152 Delta Child ------------------ 66 All Forms ... ---------------- 63
Those settings should be very close to the CD. The new backing tracks have slow versions for every tune - something that I always wanted.
I hope that helps. Playing with a metronome is very helpful, though you don't want to become dependent on it. Howard Roberts said that you need to develop your "internal metronome." Turn it off occasionally.

This was copied from the old forum, hope people find it helpful. Keep bluesin'

I agree that lots of the posts on the old forum had valuable information. I'm going to begin the arduous and, what is no doubt going to be very time consuming task of sifting through them and re-posting them here somehow.
Tbone, your trick of dividing the measure into two, and thinking of the 16th notes as 8ths is fine. I use tricks like that myself - it makes the counting easier.

JG Thanks, John - I agree, there was lots of good info on the old forum. I'll certainly share whatever I can find that I had copied from it. I think it would really take a lot of time to comb thru it all, though. Love your books, by the way. My favorite so far has probably been Blues Rhythms You Can Use, though I definitely learned a lot from BYCU, too. I hope the new forum works out better than the previous one - this really seems like a good format to ask questions, post demos of lessons, share other info, etc. Good luck, Bruce

You're welcome. JohnG had posted this on the previous BYCU forum, and I had copied it and found it really useful, so I posted it here on the new forum.
