I think WPB only has 2 to go with BYCU as well, perhaps he could make it a team of 5.......... I'm pleased to say I'm on the last track of BYCU. One more song to graduation party... one more song...

TBone how is the injury, still painful or did you get some good pain assistance? I think at the beginning you are really fired up about actually playing something that is actually a tune, and loose focus on the nitty gritty of the lesson. I noticed as I progressed through the book I started doing a better job of practicing the lesson content. I think I missed out on nailing some of the chord progressions, so I am trying to get more of them memorized.

Thanks, Rich, don't worry, I'll get by and this whole mess hopefully is getting me back closer to my guitar... that's what this forum is about and the only reason I even mentioned my personal disaster I also think there's some value in repeating BYCU one or two times over before moving on but I lost focus on that for )reasons: First, I never really understood what exactly John meant when he assigned the students to play the tunes in all keys - does this mean to just move the fingering the tune is supposed to play with around the fretboard (which is quite an easy task) or to really transpose them to the different patterns as described in the last lesson (which is a considerably harder task); I also found this to be rather time-consuming and decided to spend my limited practice time on other things (not a good thing in terms of staying on a path and moving on); the same goes for BRYCU: Should we work through all 12 keys by moving the chord sets up and down the fretboard or play the tunes with other voicings while switching keys? I was kind of busy with BCYCU and actually learned almost all of the chord forms and playd them in all keys - I didn't work through all the exercises yet, though, but I plan to do so. John once answered the question in which order the books were supposed to work through, a little specification on how to best move forward though the single books (and when to move from one to the next) from him would be great - maybe he reads this post and replies to this, otherwise I might open an extra thread on this topic. What are your thoughts on this? I agree. To take each study through all 12 keys is too time consuming. Life is much too short for that. And, I don't believe that very many people have ever actually done this. No one will ever convince me that the return on your investment (of time) would be worth doing this. Now, working through a study in 1 or 2 other commonly played keys is another story. I can see the value in that. I was going to go back to BYCU to work on the exercises that I skipped (most of them ). Then I discovered that excellent exercises in MBYCU and I have been working on those consistently.

TBone, that's some great stuff by Merroks you linked to - a pity he's not a forum member. I've seen most of his BYCU videoes when I started on the lessons, but I hadn't seen his MBYCU recordings before. His CCR "Midnight Special" cover is outstanding - what a great voice!

Merroks is definitely a talented musician. I watched his videos very early in my BYCU days. T-Bone, regarding backing tracks for MBYCU: you are correct, unfortunately, there are no official BT's. However, Jack has been very generous in sharing the very high quality bass and drum tracks that he put together. That's the primary reason I haven't raced ahead of him in MBYCU. I wouldn't have any backing tracks if I was ahead of him. I knew there was a reason you were holding back Phil All of you guys are welcome to use those backing tracks I made up if you want, they're all on my Soundcloud channel: soundcloud.com/jack-c8/tracksI didn't get a bass until I was a few songs into More BYCU so the first few are just drums.

Do you guys mean to tell me that none of you played all these studies in every key in every box position? Man, my opinion of the membership of this board just took a really big hit... Man, and I've been trying to play them all left handed after I finished doing this right handed Bruce
