I want to share my excitement as I wait on the arrival of my dream guitar. I purchased a Gibson Custom Shop ES335 indigo blue. I only hope that one day I will play well enough to give it justice. Below are some photos of the actual guitar I puchashed.

Rich, If you set up a little altar in your house maybe I can come over and worship it and lay down BB King Cd's before it as an offering. I'm almost as excited as you are to see this guitar. You will show it to me, won't you?

Now you just have to do videos so we can all see it in action

Phil you will probably handle it even before I do I am sure. I was more surprised my wife didn't kill me when I told her the rough price. Whew videos I get nervous enough with normal recording.
I will erect an alter if I can ever get my basement inhabitant to leave, thinking about stopping food rations.
Anyway when it gets hear we have to time my pick up to lunch so we can tune it up and play it, even without an amp.

That's stupendous Rich! Absolutely gorgeous instrument. Gonna have to demand videos from now on, it would be a horrible shame not to let us see it in action

I also got myself a new guitar today, an Ibanez AS93. My new-years resolution was not to buy more guitar equipment, and I kept it until mid February, which isn't all that bad if you ask me...

We certainly need to stick together on issues like these, Rich. I've always wanted a blues sound with a bite like Freddie King's, and this guitar gives me just that sound. Now I just need to learn how to play it...

Beautiful guitar Joachim, love it! I was gazing longingly at that exact one over at the Musician's Friend site not long ago And it's so easy to play - bending is effortless and sliding across frets equally so. I bet I could even play slide-ins on this guitar. My first encounter with a semi-hollowbody was an Epiphone Riviera and I never learned to like that guitar - so stiff and unresponsive - I think perhaps it was the Bigsby tailpiece on it that I didn't get along with.

Yeh I liked the feel of the neck on the Ibanez I played also, what pick ups are in that one?

... all I got from the wife was your not a musician why do you need another guitar. What's that all about? Maybe you're not turning your amp up enough so that she can truly appreciate your musicianship.

Yeh I liked the feel of the neck on the Ibanez I played also, what pick ups are in that one? That are called "Custom 58's", I think. They are made by Ibanez and designed with early PAF pickups in mind, or so I read... They got a nice a bite to them, so I don't particularly see the guitar as a jazz guitar, as some people do. I bet you could play some cool Freddie King covers on it...

Well Phil my wife thinks unless your gigging your not a musician and it's only a hobby. I just ignore her wait til next year when I add a nice Strat or tele to the collection, that'll teach her.
Joachim I like those pups, I was doing some reading and the pups make up a major portion of your tone in an electric guitar. Enjoy the new rig, mine may arrive next week, depends on the shipping.

Rich, when your custom shop arrives don't just dive in to open the box take your time and savour the moment. When you get to open the case for the first time take in a deep breath through your nose, you will never have smelt anything like it before, aaahhh the smell of a Gibson custom shop!!!! leave the guitar on a stand and the perfume will fill the room as you stand there admiring its beauty. Enjoy
