Silverthorne - I still have my Marshall and use it occasionally for recording but most of my playing now is done through a Yamaha THR10C which is a small practice amp. I've not had it very long but I love the tones I can get from it. Check out my "one man band" vids I did for R&BYCU.

Joachim, I use garageband, I have some settings using a blackface head and a 2x12 cab, also a tweed. However, I have pocket pod that setup a preset with a silverface a couple of effects, that I like a lot. I am going from my amp out on the pocket pod to a ijam into my Mac using a standard line in for garageband. Only issue is the pocket pod sucks batteries like their free, uses 4 AAA s about every 6 hours of play time.
I am trying to get a decent live tone now.

I love the clean, simple, sleek, elegant look of this guitar.

Can't wait to hear what kind of sounds you get out of yours.

Did you put your SD'59 in the bridge? I am thinking about replacing bridge pickup on my strat, because I'm not happy with stock humbucker. Now it has too "acid" tone for my taste - acceptable on riffage, but too "piercing" on solos even on mahogany guitar. And if I cut some trebles or mids - it becomes dull. So I am looking for mild bluesy humbucker that'll make my strat's bridge position finally usable...

I don't use the bridge pickup for the Blues You Can Use stuff, I find it a bit too harsh (of course that's just personal opinion), but it's great for rock or very heavy blues type stuff. They've got that Tone Wizard thing at the Seymour Duncan site to suggest pickups based on your guitar type and musical style: www.seymourduncan.com/support/tone-wizard/I used that and then went over to Youtube and checked out a lot of videos to see which pickups I liked best.

I pretty much did the same thing used the tone generator, and found a you tube video of guy using a carvin with a pearlygate in the neck position sounded awesome. The tone generator takes would type into account as well.

That is a beautiful guitar, I don't think I have ever seen a tele with dual humbuckers. Those pearlygate pups should sound great in that guitar, can't wait to hear something too. I am working on lazy day blues I figure since it seemed to be a top pick for favorite I the pressure on to get it perfect.

I was just about to say that "Lazy Day Blues" is one of my favorites, and then it occurred to me that I've said the same thing about several other BYCU studies. I'm really glad I found this course.

Mick,
That sounds good, but kind of gets hidden behind all that wailing lead on that one... That's a good, clean rhythm tone on that one, and the new guitar is just beautiful!

Really nice job Mick, those pickups look really familiar Very nice tone. Agree with Bruce though, could be just a little bit higher in the mix, you gotta show off your new sound

Hey guys, I've just got to agree with you regarding the mix, I thought it was ok last might when I did it through my headphones but when I listened this morning through speakers it definitely could be lifted a little more. Oh well

Ditto on the mix, and the guitar is beautiful. I was surprised at the price as it comes out of the fender custom shop I think.

Welcome to the Mahogany Fender guitars club! Your telecaster reminded me about Gary Moore and his Les Paul What about the song - I really like the mix. The volume of rhythm guitar is okay, and it flows very smooth. I'd like to ask you to record some solos using this guitar.

Hi Rich, the guitar comes out of Indonesia, not the USA Custom Shop, however, I am totally amazed by the quality and playability....and of course the price is 1/4 of what a custom shop would have been.

....and of course the price is 1/4 of what a custom shop would have been. I'm with you on this 100%. Unless you have an abundance of money and want to own something more for its esoteric value rather than its practical value, then these Asian versions are the way to go. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with spending the extra money if you can afford it and owning the real thing makes you happy. I'd probably do the same if I could. It's just that I've met too may guys who brag about the expensive guitars they own, but can't play. That's something I just can't get my head wrapped around. BTW nice playing, Mick, but like Silverthorne said, we want to really hear this guitar. Don't keep us waiting too long.
