Well played, Mick. It's also a good sounding riff. I know I've heard a song or 2 using that riff, but I can't remember who was playing.
A lot of people have had problems with the latest Windows 10 update. I guess I got lucky - no problems (yet).

Rockin' Blues For Jimi - Lesson 20 - Blues Rhythms You Can Use.I'm still getting problems with the video rendering in Sony Vegas Movie Studio 10, I believe version 14 is out very soon so maybe this old version is no longer compatible.
Anyway, here is the penultimate lesson from John's rhythm book. Nice lead part played by John on this one, I don't think I will be transcribing it anytime soon .

Nicely done, Mick. Yeah, I think we're all waiting for someone else to transcribe that solo - Joachim?

Very nice, I listened to John's version and you're right on the money Mick! Wonderful little bite in the guitar sound too, just perfect. Looks like you're disturbing your dog's nap though lol

Nicely done, Mick. Yeah, I think we're all waiting for someone else to transcribe that solo - Joachim? I will probably take a stab at transcribing it, I plan to slowly work through all of BRYCU that way. But it will be a long time before I get to that song...

Dominant Rhythm in G - Lesson 21 - Blues Rhythms You Can Use.So finally it's GRADUATION TIME , here's the last lesson from JG's rhythm book. I still haven't totally sorted the web cam problems out yet but it is a bit better than it was previously. I've learned a lot from this book and certainly got my fingers around chords I didn't even know existed .

That was cool, Mick. A much "harder" take on that than mine, which was "soft" to my ear. And you did it without the thumb over the top thing! Very well done! I absolutely LOVE that book, and I think that was my favorite of all the studies in it. Completing that book is definitely an accomplishment to be proud of, Mick. I've heard it said that if you can play decent rhythm, you'll always be invited back to jam sessions. I think finishing that book gets you well on the way to playing good blues rhythm guitar. Congratulations!

Great playing, Mick. I 2nd everything Bruce said. This is also my favorite study in the book and one that I've wanted to learn, but keep putting off. I like that you pulled it off without doing the fretting hand thumb thing. There are certain things that some of us physically can't do. You've demonstrated that there are ways to work around them. There are plenty of good guitarists who don't use this technique and play just fine. Looks like you're one of them. The best part is you now have something very impressive to play when somebody says the dreaded words, "Play something." And this will impress them.

What a great song! Fun to hear it played with a bit of grit like that - I really like your playing and your sound on it! And congratulations on completing the book...

Really nicely done Mick, love the "grit" sound Congrat's on your graduation! You're also making me want to get back into that book.

Thanks for the very positive feedback for my rhythm finale, I did practice the study with various tones and techniques and even different guitars, but I struggled to find something that felt right for me. I really liked Bruce's fingerstyle rendition but I just didn't have the skills to pull it off (I'm working on this at the moment ). The "grit" tone was an accident really, I had been practicing something else before with my strat with a good crunch tone that cleaned up with a soft strum but growled a bit when you dug in, just what those Texas special pups are made for. I did a test recording and it strangely I thought it sort of worked even though initially I had intended to play clean.

Hi Mick. I just became a member and found your videos of the Blues you can use. The one with Texas Rock. I have lost or misplaced my CD that comes with it. I was wondering if I can somehow get a copy of it. I take my practice guitar and practice during my lunch hour. Please let me know. Would really appreciate your help.

I'm not Mick, but I'll be willing to help you out. Post a photo of yourself holding the book. You don't have to show your face. Just get your hands holding the book in the picture. The reason I'm asking you to do this is so I know that you actually have a legitimate copy of the book. One more thing. If I do this this your have to promise to participate in the forum and upload recordings of your progress. Save

That's a good offer from Phil, we are very aware here of breaking any copyright regulations, especially where JG is concerned.

That sounded damned fine Mick! Really good timing and the song just had a nice feel and sound to it. I remember that song and it's definitely not an easy one! Just one thing - is your bass player too shy for the camera?

Nicely done, Mick. I've played around with that one, so I can attest that it's not so easy as well. Spot on timing, and great job with the raking rhythm part!
